Make Sure You Do: Before You Say “I Do”

August 24th, 2008 by Administrator

Tina Turner asked an important question in the title of her hit song; What’s Love Got To Do With It? Yes love is important but love don’t pay the bills. It is not be enough to be “in love.” Couples must have the basic skills necessary for building and enhancing the relationship over time. Lasting marriages require partners who are committed to respecting one another, who have gained knowledge about what makes marriage work, and who have developed skills that will enhance rather than deteriorate the relationship.

It is mind boggling that so many spend countless hours planning for the great wedding day. That’s right; it is only for one day; a mere drop in the ocean of time. Here today, gone tomorrow; then what? It is just plain ignorant to spend numerous weeks and even months planning for the wedding that last a day and ignore the marriage that is expected to endure for a lifetime. It makes good sense then, to spend at least an equal amount of time preparing for married life. By reading this article, you have taken the first step toward increasing your awareness. I applaud you.

Whenever I perform a wedding ceremony, it usually includes these words:

Do you promise to love, honor, cherish, and protect him/her, forsaking all others and holding only unto him/her according to God’s holy law; and thus pledge your faithfulness.

It is disconcerting that nearly half of all married couples regretted uttering those profound words and have since divorced. I believe that the most egregious mistake these couples made was not spending enough time seriously planning for a lifetime together in marriage. Though most couples do claim to take their wedding vows seriously, often what has been disregarded is really getting to know each other on a level beneath the surface.

Women, particularly, seem to approach marriage from a fantasy “happy-ever-after” mentality. We do not seem to realize that what we think we “see” is not perfect reality. And, what we think we feel is related to what we think we see. In other words, we tend to approach marriage with a distorted perception of what married life will be like. In a way, it can be analogized to an adolescent girl who always wanted a baby until she actually had one and the reality of parental responsibility ferociously slapped her in the face; or the teen young man who didn’t understand that as soon as he hit adulthood, the system would relentlessly seek child support payments from him for each child he has fathered.

Keep in mind that who you marry will have a dramatic impact on all aspects of your life; spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical health. Marriage is serious business and should be given serious thought. It is not optional, it is obligatory. Take a long and hard look before you leap.

The Commitment to a New Puppy

August 24th, 2008 by Administrator

There was a small dog named Fifi; she was a Maltese and also extremely spoiled. Fifi was purchased by her owner, Judy, five years ago and spent a delightful half-decade with her. They spent a lot of time together, the owner was a consultant and worked from home so she could spend a lot of time with Fifi, and in fact they had never spent a single day apart since Judy brought the tiny puppy home. Even when it was necessary for Judy to travel she would take Fifi with her everywhere, after all she was such a small dog it was easier to carry her in the special bag they bought or if need be in a little carrier for the airplane. They had formed an incredibly close relationship over the first three years they spent together, and then Judy’s husband entered the picture.

At first, Fifi was downright unhappy with the presence of a new man in her house and she was even more upset when one night Judy actually made her get off the bed and would not allow Fifi to sleep there. This was an outrage to Fifi as she had never been banished from the bed until this man showed up and started taking Judy out all of the time, leaving Fifi to be alone in the house, something that previously had rarely happened.

Eventually Fifi adjusted to Judy’s new husband and it turned out that he was usually a pretty decent guy, although he clearly lacked the appreciation that Judy had for Maltese. Fifi could live with that though as she realized she had a lot more in common with female humans anyway, rather than gritty, rough, males whose hands were not nearly as soft as Judy’s. All of that work and adjustment to make room for Judy’s husband was nothing compared to what Fifi had to face now and she had no idea just how hard it was going to be.

Fifi had noticed Judy’s belly getting much bigger over the last several months and she wondered why her owner had let herself go so quickly after getting married. Then one night Judy was gone for the night and then the next. Fifi was freaked out because she had never spent a night away from Judy before, but then on the third day, her loyal owner returned only she had a tiny human that was screaming in her arms. Fifi ran to Judy to be lifted up and adored after the separation they had just endured and the owner actually shooed her away and refused to pick her up. A slap in the face like this would not be taken well by anyone, let alone a pampered, spoiled Maltese named Fifi.

People must be aware when making any significant changes in their lives how it can affect their spouse, kids, friends or even pets. Animals are far more in tune with human emotions than a lot of people give them credit for and they can respond a great deal to certain changes in their surroundings, especially dogs. One of the most difficult adjustments dogs have to make is the addition of a new baby to a family. A common sequence of events is for an adult to get a dog after college or once they are “settled down” and in need of some companionship but not ready for marriage yet. The dog is their best friend in the whole wide world and that relationship becomes very special to both the owner and the dog. Eventually the owner finds that special someone they have been looking for, only this time it is a human and they get married.

Now the relationship with the dog is a lesser priority to that owner because their spouse naturally becomes the primary focus. Some dogs go through a lot of adjustment in these stages but most do all right. While dating it is wise to make sure your potential future mate loves your dog.

This is all too common with families who have major adjustments. Usually the four legged family member has to go. Needless to say, poor Fifi suffered tremendously as the new baby took over every element of the house and Judy. Eventually Fifi went to live with Judy’s mother, which was better than staying in the baby house but not the same as the life she had once shared with her beloved owner Judy.

So when deciding to add a four legged one to your family please consider all the factors before bringing a puppy home. Buying a new puppy should be a commitment for life.

Spectacular Seychelles Boast World-Class Resorts and Attractions

August 17th, 2008 by Administrator

The Seychelles is a group of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, located near Madagascar, the Maldives and Mauritius. The nation, a republic, boasts two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, consisting of the island of Aldabra, the world’s largest coral atoll and Vallee de Mai on Praslin Island, which has been compared to the Garden of Eden.

A haven for divers — both snorkel and SCUBA — Seychelles has six national marine parks, where coral islands are rich with more than 1,000 different species of fish. The turquoise water, clean white sand beaches and exotic plant and animal life make Seychelles a popular holiday destination for weddings and honeymoons as well as attractions for sailors and divers.

One of Seychelles’ best-known beaches is Anse Lazio on Praslin Island. Framed by huge rocks on both sides, Anse Lazio beach is shaded by picturesque coconut palms leaning out toward the gently rolling waters of Chevalier Bay.

Mahe Island is the largest of the Seychelles, and location of the capital, Victoria. The international airport as well as 90% of the population can be found on Mahe Island.

Perhaps the most renowned holiday resort in Seychelles is the Banyan Tree, a family of romantic luxury resorts with locations also in the Maldives, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and China, although each location is uniquely fitted to its culture and geography. Other highly recommended resorts are operated by Constance (Lemuria Resort on Praslin Island), Le Méridien, and Taj. In addition, you will soon see them joined by Four Seasons, Southern Sun, the Crown and Champa Group, Universal Enterprises and Per Aquum.

The Banyan Tree, on Mahe Island, covers about 117 hectares of dramatic coastline and its 800 meters of beach frontage overlooks what has been called one of the world’s ten most beautiful beaches.

Popular land-based activities include hiking along well-marked nature trails followed by pampering tired muscles in luxurious spas at five-star resorts. The Lémuria Resort on Praslin sports a championship 18-hole golf course recognized by the PGA, providing challenges for amateur and professional golfers.

Remarkable animals formerly found but now nearly extinct on these holiday islands include the giant tortoise and saltwater crocodile (caiman). Birders will be happy to see
a Seychelles Flycatcher, Kestrel, Blue pigeon, Sunbird, Swiftlet, White Eye or Scops Owl. Seychelles are popular with fisherman, eager to catch such magnificent trophies as sailfish and marlin. Seychelles waters are also rich with shark, giant barracuda, rainbow runners and wahoos.

All residents of the Seychelles are immigrants, with the largest ethnic groups composed of French, Africans, Indians and Chinese. The two official languages are French and English.

The islands were probably first discovered by Portuguese sailors in the 16th century. They were colonized by France in 1756, who named the archipelago after a government official, Jean Moreau de Sechelles. The Seychelles were ceded by Britain in 1814 and became an independent republic and member of the British Commonwealth in 1976.

Flying time to the Seychelles from the USA is about 30 hours, making it more popular with Europeans than North Americans. But its world-class scenery, diving sites, as well as its luxurious holiday resorts and cuisine, not to mention the friendly locals, make the Seychelles Islands well worth considering as a holiday destination for anyone who does not have to worry about budgets.

How to ‘Work’ a Trade Show to Find Companies to Buy

August 16th, 2008 by Administrator

Often the more “creative” you are to find companies to purchase
the quicker you’ll find the “right” deal. “Working” trade shows
offers an extraordinary opportunity to find and quickly qualify
acquisition opportunities. To take maximum advantage of these
“corporate shopping malls”, you need to use proven techniques
to make this methodology worthwhile.

As a business buyer you want to use the most creative means
possible to position yourself to get the first shot at a viable
business that can be purchased, preferably a purchase
opportunity where you have no other purchase competition.
Herein lies the most noteworthy justification for working
trades shows within industries you seek acquisitions.

10 Reasons Trade Shows are “Fertile Ground” for Business Buyers

Any proactive business buyer will tell you that finding viable
companies that can be purchased for reasonable terms is a
“numbers game”. Thousands of company candidates, that lead to
hundreds of contacts, that lead to tens of acquisition
conversations, that hopefully lead to one company acquisition.
Trades shows offer an unparalleled opportunity to streamline
the business purchase qualification process because trade shows
are:

Industry Focused:
Only attend shows in industries you prefer

Geographically Biased:
Regional, National or International, take your pick!

Time Efficient:
You can visit with hundreds of companies in one trade show day

Cost Efficient:
For the cost of a plane ticket and a short hotel stay, you can
qualify thousands of companies and many related trade
associations.

Personal:
There is no better place to get face to face with a company
CEO, who can say an immediate “yes” to a purchase inquiry, than
a trade show

Interactive:
You can see, touch, hear, taste, smell company product and
service offerings first hand - watch them demonstrated by
experts

Sales Personnel Intensive:
Sales personnel talk and talk … not only will they keep
Answering ALL your questions about the company, but they give
you insights into how best to approach key management and
whether they are viable acquisition candidates

Lead “Rich”:
After “bonding” with booth personnel in a matter of minutes
they will pass on other company acquisition candidate leads and
refer you to specific people industry trend insightful: There
is no better place to define the current status of a targeted
industry. New products/ services and countless conversations
tell all!

Relationship Starters:
Since you meet so many people face-to-face, you are able to
start memorable dialogues, long term relationships, with key
business decision makers. If reinforced with timely follow up
after the show, these relationships can lead to eventual merger
or acquisition discussions

When you are pursuing companies to purchase, you never know
where your next deal will come from. Introducing yourself to
hundreds of people, passing out business cards and company
introduction booklets to trade show booth participants, can and
will be passed onto other people not in attendance at the show.
Your exposure to others can be exponential.

An excellent technique to guarantee your expressed interest in
purchasing specific types of companies is proliferated among
others NOT in attendance, is to offer a reasonable financial
incentive, or “$ referral fee” to sales personnel working the
booths. If they refer you to a company you eventually purchase,
offer to cut them a check at purchase closing or to donate the
referral money to their favorite charity.

Remember, sales personnel typically have hundreds of customers,
probably also within the same industry you are interested in.
They personally know many business owners who might be
interested in selling. This referral technique can get you in
front of many business owners in a very short period of time!

Don’t Forget the Other Trade Show Attendees!

If you attend a trade show with the objective of also “working”
the attendees for leads on company acquisitions you’ll be
amazed at who you meet and where those conversations eventually
lead you to.

Be keenly aware of conversation dialogs between other show
attendees and booth workers that are already in progress within
the show booth. You can quickly determine who the booth visitor
is and from what company they represent…name tags are
priceless! If you hear something you like, or may
be to your benefit, introduce yourself to the person upon their
booth departure. This technique can generate many referral
opportunities for you.

Other opportunities to interact with trade show attendees are
conference seminars, luncheons and talks, and best of all, at
the show snack bars. Be observant, read name tags, listen to
and start conversations. Don’t be bashful - introduce yourself,
give them your business card and company brochure. These
conversations are typically amazing because people in
attendance at these shows see you as a “fellow show warrior”
and often embrace an opportunity to share show and industry
perceptions, unique experiences at specific booths, or better
yet, suggest individuals you should meet at a specific company,
at a specific booth … and they will encourage you to use their
name when you introduce yourself!

Like in most selling situations, any business purchase lead you
get from a trade show needs to be followed up in rapid fashion.
Time is your enemy here. Be sure to re-contact your most viable
leads within five days after the show.

Finding a viable company, that can be purchased, sometimes takes
being at the right place at the right time. Working trade shows
effectively will give you countless opportunities to be at that
right place with the right person. Make this technique one of
your primary methods to find quality company acquisitions.

Thanks CJCS

August 14th, 2008 by Administrator

I was talking to my daughter last week who seemed to be having a pretty tough time finding a job. I knew times were a little tough, but I had no idea until I talked with her. She had put in applications all over town and nobody seemed to be hiring. That was until she called the California janitorial cleaning service. They were able to hire her the same day she came in, and she started working the next day. She barely missed a week of work, and is now on track to getting her apartment back. Things are looking up now.

I told my friend that I would watch their two dogs for him while he was away on vacation. I have had them over before, but never for an extended amount of time. I didn’t think it would be any different, but boy was I wrong. They made my house a complete wreck. They went potty everywhere, and ended up dragging stuff out of my garage all over the floor in the living room. I called the California janitorial cleaning service to come and clean it up. They got everything back to it’s original condition, but I will never watch those dogs again.

Battling the Blues and Winning

August 11th, 2008 by Administrator

Summer time is over, the kids are back in school and soon the holiday preparations will begin. But unfortunately, what should be a magical time of year, all too often signals the beginning of the winter blues for millions of Americans. And whether you suffer from a mild form of depression when it comes time to start your holiday shopping, or you go into full blown panic attacks at the mere mention of hosting Thanksgiving dinner, you are not alone. The good news is that, while the changing of the seasons is inevitable, the holiday blues don’t have to be.

Depression seems to be the catch phrase of the new millennium and the health care community is often all too quick to prescribe antidepressants as a cure to what ails you. But not all forms of depression and anxiety warrant such drastic measures. Often times, with a few changes to your diet and lifestyle, you could be looking at the world with a whole new attitude.

Understanding the Evils of Depression and Anxiety
We’ve all said it at one time or another, those words that seem to sum up our angst so perfectly: I’m so depressed! But what does that mean exactly? The symptoms of depression can be characterized by many factors, ranging from irritability and insomnia to panic and the inability to enjoy life’s little pleasures. Often times we strive towards perfection in an effort to manage our feelings of despair or inadequacy, generally falling short and leaving us feeling worse than we when we began.

Many of us were raised on the old adage, Mind Over Matter, and feel that we should be able to manage our emotions on our own, that anything less would be a sign of weakness or failure. Not true! This method of thinking is outdated and most often ineffective, as the culprit in depression is generally not a weak will, but rather a reduced level of an important brain chemical called serotonin.

Serotonin is the body’s primary defense against anxiety and depression. When our serotonin levels are low, we tend to lose our natural good nature and find that life’s challenges become increasingly more daunting.

There are many reasons why your serotonin may be low, genetics often times being a key factor. Does depression seem to run in your family? Did your parents have a difficult time facing the day to day stresses that seemed so easy for others? Is there a history of alcoholism or drug abuse in your family? These are all signs that low serotonin might be present. Don’t be discouraged if this is the case, though. As you will see, genetics do not mean a life sentence of depression. There is hope.

Stress can also be a contributing factor to depression. Have you experienced elevated levels of stress over an extended period of time? Whether the stress is the result of a major tragedy in your life, like the loss of loved one or the difficulty of a bitter divorce, or the result of a lengthy or debilitating illness, the effects on your body are the same. Under attack by such stressors, your serotonin store is tapped into repeatedly which can eventually lead to total serotonin depletion, leaving you running on a perpetual state of “empty”.

Believe it or not, but the time of the year may also have a very real affect on your mood. Do you find that your mood seems to drop when the weather is cloudy, or the sun doesn’t come out for days on end? There is a biological explanation for this. Serotonin is one of the few body chemicals that are actually stimulated by light. An underexposure to light can lower your serotonin production, leaving you feeling down and depressed. And if you are already running on low levels of serotonin, something as minor as a cloudy day can serve to bring you further down.

A major contributor to depression, and the one most often overlooked, is your diet. In order for your body to produce serotonin it relies on the foods that you eat to provide the much needed amino acid, Tryptophan. Tryptophan can be found in high-protein animal-derived foods such as turkey, chicken, beef and cheese. Once ingested, your body converts the amino acid, tryptophan, into a chemical called 5-HTP (5 hydroxytriptophan) and then into the neuro-transmitter, serotonin. Without tryptophan, your body is unable to produce 5-HTP and subsequently serotonin, leading to a myriad of problems, most notably, depression.

There are four key symptoms that could indicate the presence of low levels of serotonin:
Gut and Heart Problems
90% of the serotonin in your body is in your gut and when you raise your serotonin levels your digestive tension (including constipation) can often dissolve with your depression. Your heart is also partly serotonin dependant. It’s well known that low serotonin type negative moods, including fear and anger, are closely associated with heart disease.

Sleep Disturbance
Many people with low serotonin levels obsess and worry instead of getting to sleep, while others tend to wake up too early in the morning.

Fibromyalgia, TMJ, Migraines
Raising serotonin levels not only has a powerful muscle relaxing effect, it can also stimulate our natural pain killers, the endorphins.

Cravings for Carbs and Alcohol
Ingesting carbohydrates (whether through food or alcohol) can set off body wide stress, causing your pancreas to release insulin in order to remove the excess carbs from your bloodstream and store them as fat. The insulin sweeps most of the amino acids out of your bloodstream, along with the carbs. Only one amino gets left behind-tryptophan-and it goes right into your brain, unimpeded by the other aminos that usually crowd it. Once in the brain, the tryptophan can easily convert to 5HTP and then to serotonin, elevating your mood temporarily. The downside? This source of instant euphoria most often leads to a dependency on sugary foods which can in turn lead to excess weight gain along with a myriad of other health problems.

Turning the Corner to Peace and Happiness
The treatment of depression may take some time but it can be accomplished. And while your mood may not improve right away, don’t let this discourage you.

Counseling can often be an effective tool in coping with depression and anxiety. By adopting valuable problem solving skills you can begin to regain control and achieve happiness in your life. Learning to recognize and accept your feelings, even feelings of sadness, anger or fear is an important first step.

One of the most important treatments for depression is exercise. When you exercise, your body seeks out the amino acids in your bloodstream for routine muscle repair. This causes tryptophan, the only amino acid not used for muscle repair, to go straight to the brain. Once it gets there, it is quickly converted to 5HTP and then to serotonin. Exercise also increases your oxygen intake which is critical to the formation of serotonin from amino acids. The amount of exercise needed to fight depression is not much and even a small amount of exercise has been shown to enhance the powerful mood elevating substances in the brain known as endorphins. When the endorphins are elevated, our mood improves. Physical exercise is a very safe and natural antidepressant, perhaps the most effective natural antidepressant available.

The presence of food allergies is a very significant factor to consider as a cause of depression. Food allergies often times play a major role with people who suffer from depression. A simple food allergy test could reveal whether or not you are experiencing the effects of this common problem.

Hypoglycemia, the result of a dysfunctional sugar metabolism, is a common but often unrecognized cause of depression. The brain doesn’t function properly when the sugar levels in our body are low, creating symptoms such as depression, irritability, anxiety, fatigue and headaches. A dietary intervention consisting of a proper balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats could completely alleviate this problem.

Our bodies are put under a lot of stress from consuming too much alcohol and caffeine and the natural production of serotonin is inhibited by such chemicals. Alcohol is a brain depressant that disrupts the normal sleep cycles and interferes with the many brain cell processes. Individuals who are prone to feeling depressed seem to also be especially sensitive to caffeine. Drinking too much caffeine can lead to all of the common symptoms of depression. Just by cutting down on, or eliminating all together, these two addictive chemicals, you could see a dramatic difference in your mood.

Proper levels of calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and B vitamins are needed to ensure the conversion of tryptophan to 5HTP to serotonin. Although it is difficult to diagnose, there is evidence that vitamin deficiency tremendously affects our health and can cause fatigue or a general lack of well being. Individuals with depression have often been found to be deficient in folic acid, B12 and B6. Also, very importantly, a deficiency in essential fatty acids (the omega 3 oils) has recently been linked to depression.

When I evaluate a patient for depression and/or anxiety, it is important that I gain a complete understanding of all of their symptoms along with their physical state of well being. There can be several physiological causes of depression, including chronic disease, low adrenal function, heavy metal toxicity, PMS, menopause, hypothyroidism and more. By determining the underlying cause of the depression and/or anxiety, the proper illness can be treated, which should subsequently ease the patient’s emotional unrest.

The drug Prozac, and medications similar to it, have become big sellers, generating over $2 billion in sales annually. However, it is doubtful that 20th century Americans have suddenly developed a Prozac deficiency. Before I place my patients on medication that could have both short and long term side effects, I begin with one of the many natural treatments that are available, such as tryptophan, tyrosine, phenylalanine or melatonin. I do sometimes find that the use of amino acids along with a low dose of an antidepressant medication may also be beneficial to the patient.

When people are depressed, they are often times unaware that their behavior has changed. If other people have noticed a change in your outlook, consider whether or not you might be suffering from depression. If it is possible, try adjusting your diet and adding approximately 20 minutes of exercise 3 days a week to your regular routine. If your depression is too severe to be affected by these adjustments, please seek the professional help that you need to start the healing process.

Depression is a very real disease and one that can be treated with the proper assistance. Don’t be held down by the weight of its symptoms any longer than you have to be. Solutions are out there and everyone deserves to live a happy, healthy and full life. Do it for yourself. Do it for your family. Do it for the holidays.

The #1 Reason Internet Marketers Fail

August 9th, 2008 by Administrator

The number one reason why internet marketers don’t succeed in the first place is because they fail to come up with an effective marketing plan. In order to succeed in the competitive world on online marketing, you need to do your homework.

It takes a lot of careful planning, research, and a good plan to make network marketing a success. Especially nowadays that the internet has become such a lucrative place to do business, more and more individuals are looking to get in on the action.

The internet has now become indispensable to our daily lives. In most households it is an essential tool that aids families with their every day living, not just in the U.S., but in various countries around the world.

This is why it is so important that internet marketers execute a good plan, because internet marketing offers a great opportunity to earn significant profits given that it is a global market.

The potential earnings marketers can accrue from this trade is enormous, but before any of this materialize into actual money, their marketing plans would have to succeed.

A poor online marketing plan is pretty much as good as a death sentence. This is something some unfortunate internet marketers realize too late, when their online business is already on the way down.

A lot of factors also contribute to the failure of internet marketers. All of which goes back to the fact that all of these things should have been covered, had there been a good marketing plan put into place.

These factors include:

Poor online promotion- This is extremely important to any online business. You need to get the word out that you have a business in cyberspace that is up and running. You can do this by promoting in message boards, blogs and online forums. Also, you need to submit your website on an search engine. This is the quickest and easiest way potential consumers solicit information regarding their needs. ? Over Complicated/Erroneous websites- It’s important to have a website that offers clear information. This is what the customers are after in the first place. If you’re website is unorganized and too complicated chances are that you will lose potential customers. Individuals who can’t find the information they are looking due to the confusing set up will most likely not take the time to stay and try to figure things out. They will just leave and look for another website that offers the information they are looking for. Try to create a website that looks professional. Include a search feature, this is important. This allows visitors to easily navigate your website. Remember that convenience is key, especially to those who don’t have much time on their hands.

? Lack of traffic- You need to bring in traffic to your website. Traffic means potential customers. There’s nothing that evidently signals the demise of a business more than a website that does not receive any traffic. That is why it’s important to put in a lot of effort in trying to bring in visitors to your website.

There are a variety of ways marketers can accomplish this. One of the most effective ways this can be achieved is by participating in an affiliate program. For a small amount of money, you can recruit a group of website owners to promote your online business on their website. This is one of the most effective marketing strategy that successful online business are taking advantage of.

Another great way you can bring in traffic to your site is by registering in a pay per click search engine. It’s amazing what a few carefully selected keywords can do for an online business.

Most customers find their way into a websites through the use of a search engine. This is why it is extremely beneficial for online businesses to have their website on top of the list!

? Lastly, the most important thing that separates marketers who become successful from those who fail, is that successful marketers don’t give up! It sounds clich enough, but has proven true, time and time again. Successful marketers are not afraid to try new ideas when they have discovered that their original plans don’t work. They persevere and find ways to beat the odds.

These individuals are constantly making plans on how stay ahead of the game through determination and hard work. This is why they reap the fruits of their labor, and this why you must follow in their footsteps in you want to become a successful internet marketer!

Getting Through to Your Teenager

August 5th, 2008 by Administrator

Have you ever watched your teenager make a mistake (that you’ve made yourself) after you’ve warned them at least a thousand times? Is there anything more frustrating as a parent?

Well, this is somewhat typical in most “normal” households across America. We (parents) screw up, tell our children about it, and what do they do? They go out and repeat the same mistake. It makes you question your own gene pool.

In actuality, the problem isn’t with the teenager (at least not all of it), the problem is in our approach to teaching our teenager the lesson we want them to learn. In a sense, we act just as crazy sometimes; we teach them using the same strategies that didn’t work a month or year ago. We should be asking ourselves, when will we learn from our past mistakes?

Here’s a better approach that I’ve experimented with few times with my own students. It’s a modified version of the Socratic method. You simply lead your teenager to a predetermined answer that they come up with on their own. That’s it. I know it sounds easy, but it takes quite a bit of practice. Allow me to demonstrate.

A parent of one of my students confided in me that her son was hanging around a dangerous group of boys in the neighborhood. She believed his friends were possibly into drugs, gang violence, and other criminal activity. With no father figure in the home, she thought maybe I could “get through” to him.

I asked her, “What have you said to him?” She replied, “I’ve told him at least a hundred times that his friends are up to no good, and they’re going to eventually get him into trouble and jeopardize his future.” She continued, as she cried, “I told him that I made the same mistake when I was his age, and he didn’t want to go through the pain I did. I just can’t get him to listen.”

A lot of us can relate to this mother’s frustration. We want so much for our children to avoid the mistakes we made. We can’t understand why they can’t understand our concern, and we become frustrated and sometimes even angry.

Well, I agreed to meet with her son after class. But I decided to use a different approach. I figured the old approach wasn’t working, so what did I have to lose? After a little small talk, I simply asked a couple of simple questions, “Who are your three closest friends?” After he gave their names (all part of the group his mom disliked), I asked him a second question, “If you died tonight, and you had children, would you want any of those friends raising your son or daughter?”

After an extremely long pause, I let him off the hook by saying, “You don’t have to give me the answer, but I do want you to ask yourself another question. If you wouldn’t let them raise your children in the future, then why are spending most of your time with them today?” That was the end of our discussion.

This little episode may or may not have put him on the right track, but it did one thing his mother was unable to do - get through to him. He now had to make his own decision based on his own reality, not his mother or his teacher - and then accept responsibility for the consequences of that decision.

And that’s all you can really do for teenagers…get them to think for themselves. If you did a good job teaching your children in the early years, the growing process (including the mistakes) is a lot easier to accept.

The key to getting through to your teenager is to say less, and ask more in order to get them to do more thinking. The more you say, the less they’ll think. And the less they think, the more mistakes they’re inclined to make. So, take your own advice, learn from your past mistakes by adopting a new approach.

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. Five simple ways to

August 5th, 2008 by Administrator

When you change your thoughts, you change your life. The fastest way to achieve peace and harmony is to change your thinking. In order to change your outer world you must first change your inner world. Your thoughts dictate your behavior, and when you change your thought patterns, you will be changing your behavioral patterns as well. Altering your behavior will change the course of your life. Here are 5 simple ways to achieve peace and harmony.

1. Observe Your Internal Chatter. If you find your thoughts are negative or limiting, stop and replace those thoughts with positive ones. Your internal chatter is a good forecast to the direction your life is headed. Meditation is a good way to clear that negative chatter, and assist you in changing your thought process.

2. Say What You Mean, and Mean What You Say. Healthy communication is a key element in keeping peace and harmony in your life. Good communication eliminates being misunderstood, and prevents stressful situations. Saying what you mean not only gives you a sense of peace, you also earn the respect from others when they know you are true to your word.

3. Focus on the Positive Not the Negative. Turn negative situations into positive ones. Everything happens for a purpose and a reason. Instead of complaining, and feeling wounded after a negative situation, stop and think about how you can change it into a positive one. Remember, you attract what you dwell on; positive attracts positive, and negativity attracts negativity. If your thoughts are negative and victimizing, you will attract exactly that into your life. What are your thoughts attracting?

4. Practice Guided Visualization. This technique involves sitting comfortably, and listening to a tape or an instructor who guides you through a relaxing scenario. The setting is calm, tranquil, and peaceful allowing your mind and body to connect. You can create what you visualize, and with the aid of your subconscious mind, the possibilities are limitless!

5. Get Organized. Organizing your surroundings, and managing your time wisely helps give you a clear head for making wise choices. Your choices are dependent on your thoughts that precede it. How can you make a wise decision if your thoughts are cluttered and unorganized? Start organizing your life now, and see how fast you can change your life.

Thoughts are powerful, after all, everything ever created started with a thought. You are creating your tomorrow with the thoughts you have today. Taking control of your thoughts will give you a sense of stability, and with that stability brings peace and harmony.

ERP Role in Selling Your Mid-size Business - Microsoft Great Plains and CRM Example

July 31st, 2008 by Administrator

If you own the mid-size business and actively work in it as executive manager or lead, say marketing, - you probably know exactly what needs to be done on the daily basis to keep it running. However, in many cases this business critical knowledge exists in your head only. This means that if you would like to sell your business - it has little value without your participation. So, ahead of the selling time you should “formalize” the business - to make it work within the systems and rules, independent of people. Let’s consider the parts we will need.

• Functional Diagram. Well - one may think that he doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel, but we think that this is the only possible way - to start from the top level of formalization. Functional diagram should show the process of getting new customer as a prospect, the sales process up to the closing, then customer order executing. And this diagram should reflect the interaction of your departments and key employees/positions.

• Sales Control. When you want to formalize sales you are looking for the system, which allows you to distribute leads to your sales people and then have a tight monitoring of the closing rates and the quality of the closed prospects by salesperson. This system will allow you to create formal position: Sales or Marketing director, who can generate new business for the company through this Sales automation system. In our opinion - this is 60% of the formalization success.

• Order Execution. You need standard ERP to control order fulfillment. Usually such a system is implemented on one of the Accounting applications platforms. In the case of small and mid-size business, we would encourage you to map to your functional diagram, described above and clarify all your needs with the consultant, who will help you with the implementation. Order Execution automation will allow you to introduce another formal position - Controller.

• CRM/ERP market. You could find variety of the systems on the market. Here you need to stick to the quality rules. When you implement the computer system you should probably take the leaders on the market and be sure that they will stay or get additional market share in the future. In the case of mid-size business - in our opinion you should be selecting between two leaders: Microsoft Business Solutions with its ERP: Great Plains, Navision, Solomon, Microsoft CRM, and Best Software with their MAS 5000

• Microsoft Great Plains & CRM. These two systems are integrated and allow you to implement Sales Control and Order Execution, if you decide to stake on Microsoft brand.

You can always have us help you with the implementation & customization. Call us: 1-866-528-0577, 1-630-961-5918.
