Teeth Whitening

May 27th, 2008 by Administrator

Teeth whitening is a process of lightening the color of teeth. It involves a bleaching process that reduces the discoloration of the enamel and dentin caused due to smoking, aging, consumption of tea, coffee and colas.

You can try tooth whitening if you have healthy teeth without any fillings. Teeth whiteners are not suitable for dark gray stains, crowns, colored fillings and stains due to some medication such as tetracycline.

There are several types of products available for use at home. When selecting a whitener you must look for the ADA Seal for safety and effectiveness. Tooth whiteners gels or strips contain carbamide or hydrogen peroxide as the active bleaching ingredients. The bleaching gel is placed in a thin bleaching tray that fits over the teeth. The tooth whitening strips are placed on the teeth and gently pressed to make a contact between the whitener and the surface of the tooth. Results are usually seen within the first week.

You may experience tooth sensitivity to cold or discomfort in the gums during treatment. These symptoms always disappear within a couple of days after completion of treatment.

The tooth whitening toothpastes help remove surface stain through the action of mild abrasives or chemical polishing agents. Whitening toothpastes with the ADA Seal of Acceptance program do not alter the intrinsic color of teeth, unlike bleaches.

You should never use lemon juice for teeth whitening because vitamin C will cause the teeth to lose calcium, damaging teeth quicker than anything else.

The Motivation for Plastic Surgery

May 21st, 2008 by Administrator

Plastic surgery has become increasingly popular over the years. So, why is this and what is motivating people to pursue it?

Over 14 million pursued plastic surgery in 2005. Why? The reasons are different for many people, but a few common ones are consistently sited.

In the past, we were pretty much stuck with what we came into the world with at birth. For many people, this meant living with body aspects that drove them nuts. Bumps on the nose, flat buttocks, pockets of fats that no amount of exercise addressed, small breasts and so on are all areas regularly cites as problems. In the past, these problems often were categorized as an issue of vanity, but wrongly so. Such perceived defects lead to problems with confidence, and confidence is a key to success in business and personal relationships.

In many ways, people get plastic surgery to boost their confidence in themselves. Regardless of what others think, a person can nearly be disabled by their physical performance. Research on exercise and diet regimens has shown that individuals that improve their physical appearance are much more confident and happy. It is a simple fact. If you were born with a hawk nose or some other issue, there simply is not any way to exercise it in to shape. So, should you be forced to live your entire life with something that bothers you? Of course, not. If enhancing your look makes you feel better, who is anyone else to judge you?

An additional reason people get plastic surgery involves the never ending fight with time. We age every single day, and our body shows it. As people age, they feel compelled to fight against the effects, an impulse that has existed throughout history. The simple fact is the world is a dog eat dog world, and personal image is part of the competition. It is a well settled fact that more attractive people do better. This is particularly true in the business world, and is reflected by the fact that more men are pursuing plastic surgery than ever before. In modern society, you are expected to live longer and work longer. Plastic surgery provides an option for remaining competitive on the all important image stand point.

Finally, some people pursue plastic surgery as a remedy to an unfortunate problem. Plastic surgery is undertaken after mastectomies for instance. Body abnormalities resulting from birth defects or trauma are also an area plastic surgery provides an answer for. Surely, nobody could object to such personal enhancements!

What is the motivation to get plastic surgery? Watch one of the reality shows in which plastic surgery plays a part. You will see the answer at the end of each show.

Giving Your Hair The Best Conditioning

May 16th, 2008 by Administrator

Conditioners helps you manage things well, especially your hair.

Conditioner is a substance that makes things easily manageable. Bread dough’s for example, conditioners make it easy to manage bread dough, which is otherwise hard without it.

The best use for conditioners, on the other hand, is for the hair. Hair conditioners are heaven sent for people with frizzy and dry hair. It helps make hair easily manageable and easy to style. It also lessens the pain of detangling the dry hair when frizzyness attacks.

Conditioning the hair also eliminates the problem when it becomes nest-like after shampoo.

Here are a few tips on how to use hair conditioners to the fullest.

First, is clean your hair with shampoo. In shampooing, avoid bring up your hair and rubbing it with the shampoo. It will tangle all the ends and it will be hard to fix it after washing.

Shampoo needs to clean your scalp where dirt may build up that may cause dandruff.

Use your fingertips to clean your scalp with shampoo working the lather down to the tips from the roots. Do not rub the hair strands together to avoid damaging your hair.

Rinse well to wash the shampoo completely.

Secondly, apply a rich, moisturizing conditioner to the hair with more concentration on the tips.

Please note that when you shampoo, you concentrate on your scalp, but when you condition your hair, you concentrate on the tips.

Comb your hair with the conditioner still on it, and use a wide-toothed comb.

Remember, shampooing is to clean the scalp, conditioning is to treat your hair with protective shield to keep it moist and protected from dryness that harms the hair.

Rinse well after about a minute. If your hair is extremely dry, you may

The Winning Combo!

April 16th, 2008 by Administrator

What do we all strive for in life? Success! Success is the ultimate destination. Every one of us has the good intentions and capacity to achieve something but we lack the follow-through. A system is needed to keep us focused on the most important thoughts, ideas, people, actions, and results. Perhaps, a life organizer is what we require.

The winning combo required for achieving breakthroughs in every area of life:

1. Passion for what we do.
2. An unshakeable confidence and faith
3. A “Take-it-easy” attitude

1. Passion for what we do:

First, ask yourself these questions:

What gives me immense satisfaction when I do it? What can I lose myself in for hours? ? What did I want to be when I grew up? ? What do I still dream of being or doing?

Everyone has a passion in them. It may be buried deeply, but it’s there. All we have to do is to discover it.

A passion to do something is when we spring out of the bed excited about the day ahead, we lose track of time because we are totally involved in that work, and when we long to make a meaningful contribution to the world.

2. An unshakeable confidence and faith:

We should put our whole trust and confidence in what we do. If we lose faith, it will cause us to deviate in our thoughts and actions and a chaotic condition will prevail.

Negative thoughts like “I’m bound to fail” or “I’m not good enough” or even “I don’t deserve to succeed” will only lead to failure. Faith and confidence can be built by preparing ourselves thoroughly in whatever we do, setting reachable goals, and ultimately reward ourselves when we succeed.

Read this quote:

“Don’t quit when the tide is lowest, For it’s just about to turn; Don’t quit over doubts and questions, For there’s something you may learn. Don’t quit when the night is darkest, For it’s just a while till dawn; Don’t quit when you’ve run the farthest, For the race is almost won. Don’t quit when the hill is the steepest, For your goal is almost nigh; Don’t quit, for you’re not a failure Until you fail to try”

3. A take-it-easy attitude:

Abraham Lincoln once asked an audience “How many legs would a lamb have if you called the tail a leg?” When someone volunteered the answer “Five”, Lincoln said, “No, the answer is four. Just calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it one.”

Perception of problems is also important. When we perceive it as a big problem, it becomes one. Tough solutions are the need of the hour when it comes to tackling tough problems but the way to arrive at these solutions is to probe with a calm and composed mind.

The first two - Passion, unshakeable faith and confidence - are needed to achieve the result and the third - the “Take-it-easy” attitude is necessary to know how to deal with the result.

Harvest Moon Lessons

April 11th, 2008 by Administrator

The full moon in September is often bigger and brighter than full moons in other months. It is usually referred to as the Harvest Moon. The reason it appears bigger and brighter is because of all the dust in the air from the harvesting of crops causing extra refraction of the light. Even the moon seems to be celebrating the abundance of the harvest.

What gets to be harvested? Is it a surprise? Some random offering by Mother Nature? Not at all. “Sow wheat; reap wheat. Sow oats; reap oats. Sow weeds; reap weeds.” These words of advice were offered to me by my grandfather many years ago. It took a few years for it to really sink in that this was not just simple farmer talk.

“The seeds you sow shall be the crop you reap.” Ancient wisdom mostly ignored by all except farmers and gardeners. Of course we all know that if you want to have a crop of carrots, we need to plant carrot seeds. But most ignore that this simple rule of cause and effect applies to much more than agriculture and horticulture.

It applies to all facets of life. Every act of beingness is a seed (a causation) that will germinate and grow to produce fruit (an effectualization). Everything we be and do is, therefore, a seed. What we have (our harvest) is the result of the way we are and what we do (our plantings). The way we are is determined by what we believe, think and feel. Every thought held is a seed planted. Every emotion held is a seed planted. Every belief held is a seed planted. Every word spoken is a seed planted. Every act committed is a seed planted. And each seed planted bears fruit of the same kind.

You cannot plant thought seeds of doubt, fear of loss and limitation and expect to reap a crop of abundance. You cannot plant belief seeds of low self-esteem, sacrifice and scarcity and expect to reap a crop of prosperity. You cannot become wealthy thinking impoverished thoughts. You cannot get rich with poor beliefs. You cannot reap wheat by planting weeds.

Seeds of violence do not bear fruits of peace. Violence sown produces a crop of violence. Seeds of scarcity and lack sown do not produce abundance. Thought seeds of scarcity produce lack and limitation. Yet, many people persist in holding thoughts, beliefs and feelings of scarcity and limitation and expect or hope to produce a crop of wealth and abundance.

What crops are you reaping today? Do you remember the seeds that you have sown to produce such a crop?

What seeds are you sowing today? What is your intent in thinking that thought seed that will germinate to bear fruit?

Be, do…then have. The havingness is the crop you reap. The beingness and the doingness are the seeds you sow. You can chose what you are and what you do. Therefore, you have chosen, perhaps unconsciously, the crop you are reaping.

Battle of the Blubber-The Fight Continues LVL

April 10th, 2008 by Administrator

LVL large volume liposuction

A French surgeon, Dr. Illouv is the creator of the procedure known today as Liposuction. The earliest liposuctions were performed in a dry manner, with no added fluids. This was found to be unsatisfactory as there was heavy blood loss during surgery when removing the fat. Nowadays liposuction is performed using a wet technique (Tumescent or super humid), which means the introduction of a solution with adrenalin, prior to suction, sufficient to reduce the bleeding during the procedure. Liposuction is now the number one aesthetic surgical procedure performed in the world.

As the population has gotten larger and as plastic surgery is increasingly turned to as a means to correct weight issues, plastic surgeons have been taking ever increasing percentages of body weight from their clients. There are several schools of thought about how many liters of fat, liquid and blood can be taken without causing harm to a patient.

The American Society of plastic surgery and The Brazilian Society of plastic surgery opinions differ on this issue, but the average opinion is between 7 to 10 % of the total body weight. For the average patient that means around a gallon of fat, liquid and blood which equals generally less than 6 pounds total weight loss realized 2-3 months after surgery. This is an average, but as you can see it is not a weight loss fix but a way to sculpt the body into a better shape.

For patients that want to have more than 7 to 10% of their body weight liposuctioned are categorized as Large Volume Liposuction (LVL). Large Volume Liposuction is a liposuction performed over the 7 to 10% limits, but with an increased risk to the patient. This is still Liposuction, but with a completely different set of safety requirements.

The trauma placed upon the body during LVL is very similar to the trauma a third degree burn victim may encounter. The patient loses large amounts of intravascular fluids which causes a sharp decrease in blood pressure and severe dehydration. In rare cases it has been reported that patients have gone into cardiac arrest during LVL due to the large loss of intravascular fluid.

To avoid these and other complications it is critical to have a senior anesthesiologist and surgeon that can manage the patient as an intensive care patient during and after the surgery with expansion fluids and blood transfusions.

Blood transfusion in LVL are performed as auto transfusion (using your own blood) to avoid blood related diseases. In a period of one or two months before the surgery blood from the patient is collected until there are 3 or 4 units for the surgery. With the auto transfusion we can take 15 to 20% of the body weight or 2 1/2 gallons of liposuction fluid. This must be performed in a hospital with a critical care unit for safety. LVL will involve two days in the hospital minimum for the patient.

Large Volume Liposuction is indicated to reduce major volumes of localized fat such as thighs and hips or other special cases. It is not indicated nor safe to perform multiple areas LVL. LVL will not replace the personal commitment to loosing weight, good nutrition and exercise.

Live Your Dream

April 2nd, 2008 by Administrator

I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And, by gosh, I deserve it!

One key thing to remember in this chapter is to know who you are and understand who you can be. Never let the opinions of others define for you who you are or what you can or cannot do. Although other people may sometimes know you well, they can never know you completely. You know who you are, and what is in your heart, and what you’re willing to do. No opinion from someone else has the power to hold you back.

Pay attention to what others say if you think it could be of use. Seek to understand and to make yourself understood as well as you possibly can. Yet always keep in mind the person who knows most about you is you. You know what you can do, and you know why you’re doing it, even if no one else understands.

The hurtful, limiting comments say more about the people who make those comments than they say about you. Whatever they may say, you know who you are. Move on confidently forward, knowing you are doing the best you can.

The things you possess can be lost or taken from you in an instant. Yet the person you become will be with you always. What you accumulate, even under the best of circumstances, is usually yours for a limited time only. Yet, what you give will always be a part of you.

If your desires are petty, limited and selfish, the world will always seem to be cold and mean. Expand your priorities beyond the superficial concerns, and suddenly you’ll see life in a whole new, bright and shining light.

When you put your efforts into who you can be and what you can do, rather than just on what you can have, something amazing happens. Suddenly, instead of fighting against each moment, each person, each situation, you’re flowing powerfully along with them all.

If your goal is only to acquire, then whatever you get loses meaning as soon as you get it. Yet when you seek to become, to do, to give, you enter a realm of ever-increasing fulfillment.

The more you give of yourself, the more of yourself there is to give, to live, to experience and enjoy.

If it seems like I’m dwelling on your perception of you more than I should, you’d be right. I can’t emphasize how important it is for you to believe in yourself before your social skills can really flourish. The Value of You can’t be stressed enough.

Hair Loss Types and Treatments

March 16th, 2008 by Administrator

Doctors distinguish between different types of hair loss. The male pattern hair loss is totally different from Alopecia Areata.

Male pattern hair loss (also known as common baldness, male pattern baldness or permanent pattern baldness) is the most common one for males. In fact, It is inherited. It usually involves baldness on the top of the head and a receding hair line.

On the other hand, Alopecia Areata involves patchy hair loss over the body and the head. It can involve one or more patches and even full body baldness in rare cases. Its causes are still unknown and in most cases hair regrows within first 5 years after the first patch appeared.

There are some treatments for Alopecia Areata but the proper treatment could be decided only after visiting the doctor and undergoing some blood tests.

Some of the treatments used to cure Alopecia Areata are Rogaine (minoxidil), Aloe vera gel, some herb and other natural treatments.

The treatments for male pattern hair loss are much more reliable. There is a variety of natural treatments and chemical treatments which suppose to treat hair loss.

The most recommended treatments are Propecia and Revivogen.

Propecia works on the main cause of hair loss by significantly reducing the amount of DHT. DHT is a a chemical that shrinks the hair follicle until no hair grows. Propecia actually inhibits the formation of DHT in your scalp. Lowering DHT inhibits the further shrinking of affected hair follicles.

Propecia re grows visible hair and reduces further hair loss.
In the longest hair loss clinical study where the results were measured by actual hair counts, in average more than 2 out of 3 men on Propecia re grew hair. whereas all man in the study who talk other pills lost hair.

Revivogen Scalp Therapy works by decreasing the levels of DHT in the scalp. This allows the hair follicles to rejuvenate and produce thicker and stronger hair, creating a fuller and healthier head of hair.

The combination of both remedies is the most recommended way of treating hair loss.

911 Corp. executed an independent research to find the best hair loss treatments. The results were clear. All about the results and hair loss information on stop hair loss treatments.

Cystic Acne Treatment - The Whole Truth

March 6th, 2008 by Administrator

Cystic acne break-outs can be painful and lead to deep scarring. Some dermatologists consider it to be the most severe kind because topical medications do not get to the root of the problem. It heals extremely slowly because it is so deep that the infection is trapped under the skin. Cystic acne treatment is usually limited to oral medication so all cases should be taken to a dermatologist.

Isotretinoin is the most common, and most potent drug prescribed for cystic acne treatment. It is a man-made form of retinoid (Vitamin A) that is taken in pill form. It is the only prescription that treats excess oil production, clogged skin pores, and inflammation. This pill is taken up to 20 weeks and commonly does not require more than one course of therapy to cure. The most serious side-effect to taking this medication is the possibility of birth defects to a developing fetus. For this reason, women are required to not be pregnant or get pregnant at any time during this treatment. Regular check-ups are scheduled for each patient using this medication to monitor any additional side effects.

Common side effects of using isotretinoin as a cystic acne treatment include: muscle aches, uncomfortable drying of the lips and eyes, depression, and chest pain. Some of these side effects can cause serious health problems in the future. Always contact your doctor if you notice any of these side effects.

Oral contraceptives are used as cystic acne treatment in females. It suppresses overactive sebaceous (oil producing) glands, and is safe to be used long-term. In addition to an oral contraceptive, the doctor may prescribe a synthetic steroid to inhibit other hormones that stimulate the sebaceous glands.

If oral cystic acne treatment does not work, they may require drainage. This is considered acne surgery and should only be performed by a professional, in a sterile environment. If you attempt to squeeze or pick them yourself, the infection may last much longer than it would have. You may cause the infection to worsen and increase the inflammation and swelling.

For dramatically inflamed cysts, a dermatologist may decide to administer an injection with a highly-diluted corticosteroid to bring down the inflammation and increase the speed of healing. It is a generally painless procedure. It usually clears the cyst within a week and prevents rupturing and scarring. However, this is not the first choice of cystic acne treatment by most dermatologist because it only treats current acne.

In addition to the medications your dermatologist prescribes to you, be responsible for the health of your skin. Wash your face at least once a day, especially following exercise or other sweat-inducing activity. Do not wash your skin too often or it could result in drying out. Bursting of cystic acne will most likely result in scars, so avoid this at all costs. Make sure your hands and fingers stay away from your face. Your hands pick up dirt and germs with everything you touch and this coming in contact with your face can increase the chance of infection.
