How to buy Digital Cameras cheap and at a large discount

March 8th, 2008 by Administrator

There is a nice fluid market for both new and after market
digital cameras on eBay. Digital Camera usage has grown
enormously over the past few years. Technology has reduced the
old film and developing almost to the archives. Quality cameras
ranging in price from well under $500 to over $2000 are
available. Professionals, amateur hobbyists and regular
households all seem to be acquiring cameras, often more than one
per household. The question becomes how can I acquire a digital
camera at the best possible price?

With a large volume of most models being traded everyday, this
is the ideal efficient market. One can study the dynamics of
this micro-market and determine some useful buying rules. With a
little more information than the rest of the marketplace, one
can almost certainly make some intelligent buying opportunities.
This article focuses on how to identify these gaps and often
purchase digital camera’s for 20-40% below retail.

This article should be read together with my longer piece and a
web site, which produces the information required to identify
buying nuggets. Find the links and URL’s to these two sites at
the bottom of this article. The niche site focuses specifically
and only on data from the digital camera market.

Most information on eBay focuses on the selling element, i.e.
how to sell your stuff. I have tended to specialize on the
buying end and trying to identify market opportunities and price
in-efficiencies to really capture excellent deals. To do this we
need to understand the dynamics of the eBay market place. Like
any other market it is supply demand driven, and like a large
flee-market if a buyer has knowledge of how many items are for
sale at what prices and how many other buyers are in the market,
then that buyer can capture the upper hand. Lets focus a little
more on supply.

The eBay supply dynamic is a little different in that supply of
an item must be seen at a point in time. In other words, because
auctions end at different times, one needs to grasp the number
of auctions ending in close proximity for the same item. This
gives you a feel for the supply of items or in our case cameras.
What makes this interesting is that today there could be a large
amount of auctions ending for a particular model, but next week
there could be very few. This is one element driving the price.

The demand side is slightly more complex and hidden from the
average eBay buyer. This is where that the web site I refer to
at the bottom has some useful data. Demand in eBay terms is
measured (by sellers) as a number of factors - how many people
view my auction, how many people ask questions, how many people
place me on their watch page, and how many people actually bid.
Obviously as we progress down this list the data become more
reliable as an indication of demand. Page views are not easy to
obtain, although some sellers place a publicly viewable counter
on their auction pages. Questions and watchers are available to
sellers, and the special web site mentioned below will expose
this information. Number of bids is available for all to see.

Now if we happened to produce a graph as the auction progresses
of the changes in the number of questions, watchers and bid’s
one can easily see how the demand is changing as time
progresses. Typically if questions are high and watchers are
high, but bids are low, this may indicate some confusion and a
possible buy opportunity. If watchers are very high and
climbing, but bids are low, this can point to a last minute
bidding war, and a stay out indicator.

Armed with this information and also a quick summary of other
similar auctions ending soon, plus a quick feel for the skill
set of the seller and the current highest bidder, once can see a
picture very different from the average eBay buyer. Soon the
trained eye will observe some nice buying opportunities. For the
professional or amateur photographer this will soon bring in a
number of digital camera buys that are quite a bit cheaper that
retail. For example it is quite possible to find gems at 20-40%
of retail prices. Lets face it, most digital camera’s perform
perfectly years after acquisition. Digital electronics seldom
degrade over time, so the aftermarket such as eBay is the idea
place to buy camera’s cheaply.

17 Mistakes Professionals Make with Their Blogs

October 28th, 2007 by Administrator

Are you getting results from your business blog? Is it getting harder for you to spend time on your blog because you’re just not seeing how it is going to pay off? If so, you’re not alone. Hundreds of blogs are started each day and many of them are abandoned after several months because it takes time and energy to keep a good business blog going.

Make no mistake, blogs are a great tool for building community, interacting with potential clients, and marketing your services. And, it’s not enough to set one up and post occasionally. You have to use it effectively to drive traffic and gain readership.

We’ve discovered several common mistakes professionals make with their blogs. Mostly, they aren’t using some the features available to them with their blogging software, because it hasn’t been sufficiently explained. Eyes glaze over with the mention of RSS, pinging, trackbacks and permalinks. Professionals may be ignoring these things, hoping they don’t really need to know. But they do if they want results from their business blog.

Here’s a list of what we found on a recent trip around the professional business blogosphere:

Content:

1. Not posting frequently enough. (Recommended: 2-3 times a week.)

2. Content is not focused, and the target audience is not clearly defined.

3. Posting articles that are too long, instead of using extended post features.

4. Not linking profusely (because the professional isn’t researching their field on the internet).

5. Poor spelling, bad grammar and typos.

Design

6. No name of author in tag line or on side bar.

7. No author photo.

8. No signature or name in the footer; no way to tell who wrote post on a multi-author site.

9. No subscription form; no way to get blog updates through RSS or email.

10. No way for readers to leave comments and use trackbacks.

11. Too many categories or none at all.

12. No information about their business services and products.

13. Calendars for no reason at all (what is the point of those calendars anyway?).

Marketing

14. Blog isn’t submitted to blog directories.

15. Not pinging each time a new post is published.

16. Not using trackbacks referring or linking to other blogs.

17. No blogroll or list of favorite blogs or websites.

If you’re considering using a blog to build your business, optimize it by taking time to learn the features and steps that will ensure success. A blog is like any other marketing tool – you’ve got to use it correctly to get positive results.

Here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Get an ebook and take the time to learn about your blog software or hosting provider.

2. Hire a professional blog expert to coach you on how to rev up your blog.

Denise Wakeman and Patsi Krakoff are two blog experts who have teamed up to form The Blog Squad (http://www.fixmyblog.com). They provide advanced training and coaching for professionals who want to beef up their blog for marketing optimization. Each month a blog is selected as Blog of the Month and undergoes a rigorous makeover. At the end of the month, the blog must pass the Blog Squad Seal of Approval to be certified a success. Patsi and Denise also publish a popular blog at http://www.buildabetterblog.com.

New Google Blog Search is Great Marketing News for Business Podcasts, Blogs, and RSS Publishers

September 21st, 2007 by Administrator

Google just introduced Blog Search in beta yesterday. This new search function allows for you to search the internet for Blogs, Podcasts and RSS feeds. You simply type in your keywords and it will show you results that have come from these sources.

The results they display are not showing any preferences to Blogs that are published on Blogger. We are seeing results for all Blogging platforms. Actually Google Blog Search is not just looking at Blogs. They are looking for any RSS feed, which might be from a Blog, Podcast, or any other XML feed. It appears that the search tool is pretty responsive and we are seeing results show up in a matter of hours after a new post is made to the RSS Blog and Podcast Feed. This is another way that you can create online visibility for your business.

The organic results are sorted by relevancy, but you have the option to sort them by date as well. This is especially nice if you want to locate the latest post for a fast breaking news topic and want to find it quickly in the blogosphere. The other thing that Google has done is to try to eliminate some of the “noise” and Spam of the blogosphere. They are looking at high quality Blogs and show them at the top of the page under what is called “Related Blogs”. This is prime real estate for your Blog to be listed in.

As an example: Go to the new Google Blog search ( http://blogsearch.google.com ) and type in podcasting tips. The results that are shown at the top 2 of the 3 Related Blogs happen to be authored by me. You will also see over 1600 results and we have several additional results on the front page. This is because we are writing 6 quality Blogs and publishing quality content frequently to these Blogs. http://blog.podblaze.com

Google currently does not support a manual submission for your Blog feed. I think this is smart, since it keeps the unethical people out of the picture. If you are Blogging or Podcasting properly and following best practices; your feed will be found by Google. Make sure that you are also following best practices for pinging after your feed is updated. This will ensure that your feed is updated by Google.

It looks like Google started to index Blogs, Podcasts and RSS feeds in June of 2005. They are currently not showing posts that were made previous to this. They may change this in the future. Google has found a way to somewhat keep the black hat SEO and unethical Bloggers out of the results. We can all celebrate this; because this means quality and relevant results for searchers.

Podcasters should also take note that individual podcast shows are also being listed in the results. This is a great way for users find your podcasts and individual podcast shows, based upon specific topics and content.

If you are serious about improving your marketing and the online visibility for your business website; then you need to be creating quality content with a quality Blog or Podcast. If your business wants to get maximum exposure in this important new area of Google you should work with professionals that truly understand this technology. You can look at http://www.leveragedpromotion.com as they have experience with many Blogging, RSS and Podcasting Solutions.

Blog, Blogging and Blogger - The Hottest Trend in the 21st Century

August 26th, 2007 by Administrator

The Buzz word in the internet industry today is the word “Blogging”. If you have not heard of it, read on to find out the hottest trend that is happening across right now in the 21st century. The word “Blog” could be the next craze that is sweeping across the world ever since the Internet took the world by the storm.

Accordingly to Dictionary.com, the word ‘Blog’ is defined as followed “an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a web page; also called a Web log.” It goes on further to state that the “blog is typically updated daily, blog often reflect the personality of the author”.

Traditionally back in the past, people penned down their private thoughts into a diary book. The content in the diary book would be considered private and exclusive to the author only. In fact, if you attempt to read somebody’s diary without permission, you would be labeled as “Very Rude”. However, with the introduction of “Blog”, it is set to change all that.

People started to chronicle their private life details into an online diary called blog. What started to change is that people not only started to discard away their hard copy diary book for online blogging, but in fact, they started to pen down their private thoughts in world wide web for the public to read. What a drastic change in the Trend!

In fact, soon after, blog started to take a life of its own. Gradually, blog started to evolve into marketing blog, business blog and customer service blog.

The entire “Blog” Craze is happening all over the world right now. If you are still not into it, it’s time to jump into the bandwagon right now to capitalize the opportunity before it’s over.

7 Questions To Ask Yourself BEFORE Staring A Business Blog

August 25th, 2007 by Administrator

Blogging is the latest buzzword in online marketing and PR.

But with so many marketers jumping on the blogging bandwagon, few people are giving a thought to whether blogs are really up their alley, or taking the time to consider the best ways of going about it.

If you are planning to start a business blog, ask yourself these questions before you take the final plunge.

1. Do you really need a blog?

Writing and maintaining a blog takes a certain degree of commitment, as well as a passion (or at least a liking) for stringing words into a decent sentence. If you don’t enjoy writing that much, you could always create an audio or video blog.

But would your business objectives really be served by starting a blog? Or could other methods of online marketing - like SEO, ezine advertising or newsletter publishing work just as well, if not better?

2. Whom do you want to reach with your blog?

The first step to reaching your audience is understanding where they go to find information about your products.

If your audience largely consists of people who live in your town or use products that they search for in the newspapers, offline advertising might be more suited to your purpose.

If however, your target audience belongs to one or more of these segments, a blog might be just the thing to boost your business.

- Internet users

Does your target audience really use the internet? If not, then starting a blog (or any online activity, for that matter) will just be a huge waste of time and effort.

- Blog readers

Does your target audience read blogs? Or do they prefer to get their information in their inbox? If the latter is true, then an email newsletter might be a better option than a blog.

- Search engine users

A blog is an excellent way to boost your search engine rankings and get listed for a lot of your target keywords. If you know that your audience uses search engines to find information, a blog will increase your chances of getting their attention.

3. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

There are a lot of things that a blog can do for your business. Blogs can help you -

- Increase your visibility and search engine rankings

- Brand yourself, your products, your services, your company

- Build a community and network with people who have similar interests

- Expand your reach to those outside your current sphere of influence

- Establish your credibility as an expert or thought-leader in your field

- Put a human face on your business

- Reach out to potential customers and stakeholders

Deciding exactly what you want to achieve with your blog can help you get focused, so that you can spend your time and effort in activities that help, not hinder your business objectives.

4. How much time can you spend on your blog?

Serious business bloggers not only spend time writing their own blogs, but also spend a great deal of time reading up on current events and browsing other blogs in their field for information.

If you are prepared to put in the time and effort required to do that sort of research, your blog will serve as a good branding tool for your business.

If not, you should either hire someone to do the research or seriously rethink your decision to start a blog.

5. What blogging platform will serve your needs best?

Deciding your blogging platform is an important step that you should take only after becoming familiar with the features and benefits of each option.

The reason it is so crucial is because it can be extremely difficult to migrate an established blog to a new platform once you have started it. Moving your blog can result in you losing your data, search engine listings and readers, so don’t take this decision lightly.

Decide which platform will best meet your marketing objectives, time constraints and personal preferences before you make your first post.

According to T.L. Pakii Pierce who writes at “How to Blog for Fun & Profits!” http://blogforfunandprofit.blogware.com, if you are short of time, and want to spend more time writing, then a hosted solution like Blogger, Blogware, Squarespace or Typepad might serve your purpose better.

This might also prove a better option if you want to get started as soon as possible, are new to the internet, or are unfamiliar with scripts or code.

If, on the other hand, you’re a control freak (like me) and don’t mind spending some time and effort to customize your blog, then a server-installed software, like Wordpress, b2Evolution or Movable Type might be just right for you.

If you don’t want to install the scripts yourself, choose a hosting solution with Fantastico, which comes with a one-click install of a number of blogging software.

6. How do you plan to promote your blog?

Why is it good to know this before you start your blog? Because it will help you decide where best to invest your time and effort when you need to build traffic to your blog.

You’ll learn more about the methods to promote your blog when you subscribe to the email course below. Some of these tasks can be outsourced, while others you would have to do yourself.

Decide what you want to take on and look out for service providers to handle the other functions so you can start building traffic to your blog as soon as possible.

7. How will you assess the success of your blog?

To determine how successful your blog is in boosting your profile or profits you will have to measure your blog traffic and track sales or leads that have come through it.

Planning this in advance will help you take more informed decisions about your blogging metrics, choice of blogging platform and degree of customization you require on your blog.

Understand that blogging is not for everyone. It’s just another form of communication.

Don’t get so hung up on the technology that you end up ignoring more appropriate ways of communicating your message.

Some things may be easier to communicate face to face, in a conference room, or even through the good old telephone.

But if you asked yourself all the questions above and decided that blogging meets all your objectives, then a blog may be just what the doctor ordered for your business.

Traditional medicine for acne and its side effects

August 5th, 2007 by Administrator

If you are thinking why acne affects only you, you are terribly
wrong. Acne is the most widespread skin disorder in the world,
according to statistics. That’s the reason why experts and
laboratories spend a lot of time doing research to determine how
acne forms and how it is eliminated. Different treatments,
medicines, and products have been produced to help control and
eliminate this skin disorder. In traditional medicine there are
about 7 different treatments that are used in prevention and
elimination of acne. There are also much different products that
use these treatments in one way or another. Some of these acne
treatments that help to reduce or eliminate acne problems are:
Accutane, antibiotics, Benzoyl Peroxide, herbal remedies,
Retin-A and Salicylic Acid, among others. Accutane (Isotetinoin)
is a powerful drug that is normally prescribed for severe acne
in cases where other treatments have failed to work. It is
normally taken for a 4-6-month period. Antibiotics were designed
to fight bacteria. These are used to control acne mainly from
the inside. Some topical antibiotics (clindamycin) are applied
directly to the skin. Other antibiotics (tetracycline) are in
pill form. Benzoyl Peroxide is an anti-bacterial agent that has
been used to control acne for many years. It has been proven to
work very well in the elimination and prevention of acne. Herbal
Remedies are a relative newcomer to mainstream acne fighting. It
is thought that certain herbs are effective in regulating oil
levels and other body functions that are cause of acne. Retin-A
(tretinoin) is a combination of retinoic acid and vitamin A
acid. It was designed to treat acne, sun damage, and wrinkles.
It unplugs follicles and turnovers over dead skin cells.
Salicylic acid helps to slow down the shedding of cells inside
the follicle and it is available in many treatments purchasable
without a doctor’s p The best way to prevent post-inflammatory
changes caused by acne is to prevent acne lesions from
occurring. This is done by understanding the factors that cause
acne and using the appropriate treatments for the different acne
types.

Choose with a professional guidance your treatment, go to your
dermatologist and explain the symptoms you are developing. Most
acne treatments fight the symptoms of acne, while ignoring the
biological processes that actually allow oil to build up in the
first place.

If your acne has not improved within two to three months, your
treatment may need to be changed. In these case you must also
visit your dermatologist who, according to the type of acne and
providing an updated history of what you are using on your skin
or taking internally, will indicate the right new treatment.

Indeed, there are no nippy fixes in treating acne and acne
scars. It may involve a lot of processes and products which may
vary depending on how you will utilize them or what your doctor
will prescribe.

Although, many of these acne treatments (even those that claim
not to cause dryness) can still end up agitating your skin and
causing more harm than good. Unfortunately, natural acne
treatments are often just too weak to give people the results
they need. Hopefully, there’s a new natural product that works
like a skin regenerating activator.

Natural Bio Skin Care Cream is made with a natural substance
gathered from a little creature that nature has endowed with the
ability to repair his skin quickly when damaged, and to protect
it from environmental hazards and pollution. Bio Skin Care Cream
is a gentler, yet most effective solution. It actually utilizes
biological activators of skin growth factors collected from
mucins produced by land snails to regenerate their own skin and
shell when injured and to protect themselves from the sun and
environmental hazards. Now, for the first time, BIO SKIN CARE
CREAM brings you an effective skin renewal product that
incorporates natural skin renewal activators to gently exfoliate
the worn out cells while at the same time triggering the
reproduction of new collagen and elastin cells, resulting in a
coordinated biological regulation of the skin renewal process
and thus advanced skin rejuvenation.

Small Business Blog: Why Wouldn’t You?

August 4th, 2007 by Administrator

Thinking of new ways to interact and communicate with the vendors and clients of your small business? You should set up a small business blog. Blogging has introduced a new method for people to communicate online. Initially when blogs were first introduced they were used as personal diaries to chronicle the events and feelings that were occurring in someone’s life. This is not what we’re talking about when discussing a small business blog.

You’re small business blog should discuss things relevant to your small business. Perhaps you could mention a special promotion that your company may be having or the addition of a new team member. These are things that you can mention in your small business blog. It allows your customers to see a little bit more of a human side to your business.

In addition to communicating with your customers blogs also offer the benefit of additional traffic from the search engines. Search engines love blogs because the content is fresh and is constantly updated. So as you continue to post to your small business blog your traffic from search engines will also tend to grow. This is just a side benefit and I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on it unless that was your focus.

In a nutshell the small business blog has numerous benefits to the small business owner. It provides another means for communicating with clients and vendors and also provides increased exposure online for the small business. If you’re a small business owner and considering the idea of setting up a blog then I’d say, “Go For It!”

Five Ways A Blog Helps You To Market Your Business

August 3rd, 2007 by Administrator

Want to advertise online without spending a fortune? Get a blog.

If you’re an Internet marketer, you need a blog, because:

* a blog helps your site to rank higher in the search engines; and

* a blog expands your customer base.

Blogs are often called social marketing tools, because they let you interact with your readers via comments and permalinks (see the glossary below.)

What’s a blog? Get up to speed here:

* http://www.blogger.com/tour_start.g

* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blogs

Let’s look at five ways a blog helps you to market your business.

One: A blog helps your site to rank higher in the search engines

In 2003, when Google bought Pyra Labs, the company which developed Blogger, the reaction was Huh? At the time, blogs were seen by most as online journals, primarily maintained by the demented and teenage girls.

How times change. In 2005, companies small and large are using blogs to promote their businesses. This is because Google and the other search engines love blogs because of their constantly updated content.

Blog often, and you’ll get more visitors and a good search engine ranking.

Two: A blog expands your customer base – you’ll reach people you could reach in no other way

A blog helps you to reach people you can reach in no other way because your frequent updates mean that you’ll automatically get niche visitors – those people who have no clue about you or the product that you’re selling, but who happened to type in a search engine query that mentioned words you used in a single post.

Those niche visitors can become buyers, and this means that you don’t need to struggle to get top listings in any search engine. Write (or link to) quality content, and your visitors will find you.

Three: A blog helps your site to differentiate itself

A blog is a form of stealth marketing. Therefore a blog doesn’t need to be about the products you’re selling. A blog can be about any topic that you’re passionate about. Blog about your passion, and mention – in passing – the products you’re selling. You can also link to them, but don’t bother selling heavily – that’s not what a blog is about.

Four: Like a diamond, a blog is forever

Although the most-visited blogs update often, some of them several times a day, that doesn’t mean that you have post more often than you can fit into your schedule. Your permalinks (see below) mean that since your blog items are standalone pages, they’re indexed by search engines in the same way that any HTML or other page is indexed – your blog items/ pages will continue to bring traffic even if you don’t update very often.

Five: A blog attracts new opportunities

A blog makes your business visible. Your stealth marketing efforts will attract the attention of people who may become joint venture partners, or who will have other opportunities for you.

The time and energy that you invest in your blog can bring results beyond your wildest expectations. Create a blog – it’s your hardest-working, and most cost-effective online marketing option.

GLOSSARY:

Blog = Web log.

Permalink = permanent link, an URL for a single blog post.

Comment = blogs have a comments section, where readers can interact with the blogger and others.
