You’ll Bring a Parade of Business to Your Door!

September 30th, 2007 by Administrator

Parades happen in every big city and many small towns. They are fun, relaxing and most people are there because they really want to be. Parades are a wonderful marketing tool if you know what to do! I recommend being a part of your local town parades. For most local home towns, it only takes a convertible and some decorations. The biggest parade in my home town is the Rose Parade because I grew up in Pasadena. There are not too many locals in that parade, but the little know Doo-Dah Parade is FULL of locals and locals watching it. When people like a particular float or group, they throw soft tortillas at them. Most local parades are covered by the local cable company.

As you pass by the announcers will give your information on television. If you are in the parade, you can increase your face-name recognition. If you judge the parade, you name and business will be announced to the crowd. Parades allow you to give out promotional items to the crowd. Parades also allow you to show off contest winners. If your business held a contest, get a convertible and the contest winners and get into the parade! Most parades are very low cost or free to participate in.

I love a parade because it can also get you interviews by local television, magazine and radio stations. Find out what is going on in your town. You usually have to sign up about 2 months in advance but if you just heard about something at the last minute, try and get in. I have seen people get into parades the morning of the sign up. But early sign up means, everyone will have your name and number. Publicity means being creative! Parades allow you to promote your business or website and support the community at the same time.

How To Overcome Nervousness When You Speak In Public

September 30th, 2007 by Administrator

Even if the speech you have is already prepared and you know everything about it, public speaking can be difficult. Many people are very nervous when they speak in public. Here are some tips for you to overcome your nervous feelings when you speak in front of many people.

Preparing your presentation

1. Center on yourself. Try practicing standing properly – with your feet under the hips directly. This position is the best and most stable for speaking in public. Rehearse this position with somebody or in front of your mirror.

2. Your shoulders should be relaxed. The muscles in the shoulders support directly your larynx, so it has a fast effect on your voice. Shoulders should be rolled out.

3. Warming up the voice. You should treat all your presentations as if they were performances. Prepare yourself by rehearsing. Deeply breathe into the bottom part of the lungs. You feel your rib cage is expanding slightly higher than the navel. You should thrice sigh. Sighing is your signal to the body that everything is okay and it is just perfect to relax. Then make a siren sound, starting from a high note to a lower note at the bottom part of the voice range you have. With enough practice, you will be able to find the low note connecting to the place located right above the navel. This is the natural voice pitch that you have.

Managing meeting skills

1. Directing your voice. Every time you speak, imagine that each word you say is like a beam of laser traveling from your mouth to the end person listening to you. Practice this outlook to be able to reach to many people at the same time.

2. Directing your thoughts. Pay attention to your thoughts, especially their beginnings and endings. Make your communication complete and fully rounded.

3. Diction as well as articulation. Convey clearly your message.

During questions

1. Give yourself time and space in breathing.

2. Before answering, slightly breathe out first. When you are flustered or nervous, you usually take in more additional air than you need, and you hold onto that air while you try to think. However, this is not helping you. Usually, this method causes you to panic. Remove this habit by breathing air first before you speak, allowing you to relax and thoughts to come in clearly and more logically.

Sickness and Disease: The Bible’s Perspective

September 30th, 2007 by Administrator

What is sickness? What is disease? Why are both of these
ailments extremely prevalent in a society that is more
technologically advanced than ever before? In an age where man
can build super scud missiles, devastating nuclear war heads,
and can build space rovers that can roll on the planet Mars
thousands and thousands of miles away, why has there not been a
cure for the common cold? Why has sickness and disease remained
an issue since biblical times?

The definition for sickness is to be in a disordered, weakened,
or unsound condition. In other words, when one is sick, there is
something that is within that individual that is out of
alignment, lacking strength, and the internal infrastructure is
fragile.

Disease is defined as a condition of the living animal or plant
body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning.
Disease is also defined as a harmful development.

Without question, our bodies are not built to resist sickness
and disease. So what is the key to winning the battle of health
and strength?

Well, the answer to these questions are definitely in the bible.
But before we go any further, there is one thing that needs to
be stately clearly.

Hosea 4:6 reads “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,
that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou has forgotten
the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

We are susceptible to sickness and disease because we do not
prepare ourselves to battle against them. To be equipped to
fight sickness and disease, we must obtain the knowledge of how
to defend ourselves, and this knowledge is found in the Word of
God. Sickness and disease, just like spiritual ailments such as
anger, violence and immorality, can lead to spiritual and
physical enslavement. There are three derivatives of spiritual
enslavement that we must conquer in order to rebuke and repel
sickness and disease - Bondage, Oppression, and Curses.

Bondage is the servitude or subjugation to a controlling person
or force. Just like a man being in bondage through drug abuse or
fornication, man can be in bondage, or under control of sickness
and disease in the same manner. Is it a coincidence that some
people are more susceptible to sickness and disease than others?
I think not. Lacking the understanding that we have been set
free from sickness and disease by the mighty work that Jesus
Christ did on the cross, we will continue to live life with a
slave’s mentality, freedom being hidden from our eyes through
our lack of knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.

Isaiah 53:5 reads “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he
was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace
was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

The lashes on Jesus’ body represent all sickness and disease. We
don’t have to accept sickness and disease because we were
pre-destined to be healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ. The
important part of the verse is the present tense statement “we
are healed.” Healing is not a phenomena that happened when Jesus
walked on earth, but it is a phenomena for today, this hour and
this very second.

Not only is sickness and disease a form of bondage, but it is
also a form of oppression. Oppression is the unjust or cruel
exercise of authority or power and a sense of being weighed down
in the body or mind.

Acts 10:38

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with
power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were
oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Oppression needs healing. Oppression can also act as a disease.
It is the power of God through the anointing of the Holy Spirit
that destroys the yoke of oppression. In Matthew 11:30, Jesus
states “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” It is the
light yoke of Jesus Christ that we must take on, in exchange for
the heavy burden of oppression that can weigh us down physically
or mentally.

Beyond being in bondage and oppression, sickness and disease are
also curses. Curses are caused by disobedience of the law of
God, His commandments and His will. Our disobedience creates a
spiritual breach in which the enemy, the devil, can step in and
throw his darts of sickness and disease at our bodies without
resistance. There is no resistance against the devil because God
lifts His hand and anointing from us when we are disobedient.

Deuteronomy 28:61

Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in
the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until
thou be destroyed.

In Deuteronomy 28, God specifically lays out the game plan for
blessings and curses. The blessings and curses hinge upon our
obedience, or disobedience of God’s Word. We can defeat and
rebuke curses that are knocking at our door by maintaining a
good standard of obedience to the Word of God.

For so long have the people of God fallen in the hands of
religious tradition that teaches sickness and disease are part
of life, and that they come and go as they please. This false
teaching is a total lie and it derived straight from the pits of
hell. Satan does not want us to understand the power that we
have over sickness and disease. Honestly, he has done a good job
using false teaching to keep us bound, oppressed and cursed.

Let us all rise up, stand on the Word of God, the Word of Truth,
and rebuke the devourer and his plans of bringing sickness and
disease into our lives. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there
is liberty! Therefore, we are free from every trap and snare
that Satan tries to set up for us, including sickness and
disease!

Stock Trading – What Every Investor Should Know

September 30th, 2007 by Administrator

Never try to fight against a trend.
It may be tempting to buy a falling stock in order to average your costs. In fact, many investors seem to recommend such a step. In practice, in a majority of situations this only results in throwing good money after bad.

Always have a stop loss, for every stock. If your stock moves down, at what price must you definitely sell? If you do not use historical data and technical analysis to arrive at investment decisions, you must have at least a fixed-amount method. Meaning, before you buy you will have to decide how much loss you can comfortably take on that stock, and stick to it.
Never hold on to a stock position that has moved beyond your comfort level.

As the saying goes, take care of your losses and the profits will take care of themselves.

Keep track of your stocks. Even if your stop loss has been triggered and you have exited the stock, the stock could reverse trend and start a fresh uptrend.

As a momentum investor, you should resort to periodical profit booking. When a stock is losing steam, book profits. Later, if the stock shows signs of picking up momentum again, you can always enter, even at higher levels. Your decisions are based on the potential upside from that price.

Always remember that there is an “opportunity cost” to any position. If you have invested in a stock, you have effectively “blocked” that money from being invested in another stock with, perhaps more, potential.

Once again, to repeat: Take care of your losses, and the profits will take care of themselves.

Organizing Your Data to Write Better Copy

September 30th, 2007 by Administrator

Last quarter I talked about interviewing / gathering data. So
now you’ve got several thousand words of notes, hopefully
digitally recorded. What comes next?

GETTING ORGANIZED I suggested organizing your interview
questions into 4 groups. I’m going to label them for you A, B,
C, D. · ·what is the business problem? = A · ·what is the high
level solution? = B · ·can you tell me more about the solution?
= C · ·why should I trust you (as my vendor?) = D Any decent
piece of writing has a beginning, a middle and an end. So before
you start editing / writing you want a map, to show you where
you are going. Take a blank sheet of paper, write four major
headings and label them A, B, C, D, as above.

Now read your notes. When you find data relevant to “A” (the
business problem), underline that copy and mark a big “A” in the
margin (in red?) . Keep working through until you have marked up
relevant copy for all four sections of your piece.

You will be leaving out anything that does not seem suitable as
you go.

THE CUT AND PASTE JOB Next comes a cut and paste job. Group
together all the “A”s, then the “B”s, “C”s and “D”s. Next, take
a look at all the ideas you have in the A group. It helps if you
take a new sheet of paper and write a list of the ideas or facts
in the A group. Now prioritize. Be ruthless. And trust your
first instinct. If an idea seems to leap out and have life, put
it first. The less important ones come later. Weed out any
repetition or weak data. Now you work on flow. Do you have a
logical flow of ideas that your reader can follow? Are you
telling him/ her a story that you yourself could believe in? You
will go through the same exercise with the remaining blocks of
notes, ie “B”,“C” and “D”. EDITING IS PRIORITIZING Editing is
prioritizing. Often you will want to limit a list of ideas to 3.
Three has a flow to it. And is about as much as any reader or
listener can grasp at one sitting.

Finally you polish. Now you are reading for flow or
musicality. You are cutting out superfluous ideas and words.

This is the long way to write.

THE SHORT WAY TO WRITE The short way is to sift and prioritize
all your notes in your mind ie you turn on your thinking tool.
The key idea will pop into view, and hey presto, you begin
writing about that one. You have a feeling for what comes next
and what after that. You understand how to prioritize your
ideas. Soon with a bit of jiggling ideas around the page, your
story has a beginning, a middle and an end.

You can teach yourself the short way by writing the long way,
again and again. Or by turning copy round in the middle of the
night for an 07.00am deadline as I often had to do as a
newspaper feature writer.

delighted: for we expected to see an author, and we find a man.”

11 Creative Ways to Make Big Profits from Your eBook - Part 1

September 29th, 2007 by Administrator

What do you do after you spend your valuable time and energy on creating an ebook? Do you start selling it online and then spend a lot of time to create another ebook from scratch?

What if I told you that you can create an ebook once and easily multiple your profits from it? Would you be interested to discover these profit-pulling ideas? Well, here you go…

Hot Idea #1: Sell the Resell Rights to Your eBook

When you sell people the rights to resell your ebook and keep 100% of the profits, you can make money in two ways:

First by selling the resell rights, and second by promoting and selling affiliate products or your other related products in the ebook.

So when people give it away or sell it, their customers will see your promotions and some of them will buy them. So you’ve just made some sales without any additional marketing effort at all.

Now that’s a nice way of making additional profits, isn’t it? ;-)

The key is to write your ebook about a hot-selling subject, so a lot of people will buy the resell rights to it because they know it will sell like crazy.

Hot Idea #2: Sell the Master Resell Rights to Your eBook

You can allow people to sell your ebook as well as the resell rights to it and keep all the profits. Naturally master resell rights are worth more than just resell rights so you can sell them for a higher price.

On the other hand, if people get the master resell rights to your ebook, soon more and more people will start selling it on the Internet and after a while, you’ll find yourself facing a lot of competition all trying to sell your ebook. So you won’t be able to sell it as easily as you could before.

Selling the master resell rights to your products is most profitable when you have a powerful backend selling strategy in place.

So by making your ebook viral, not only you don’t lose anything, but you’ll also make a lot of profits by promoting your backend and affiliate products inside the ebook.

Hot Idea #3: Give Away the Resell Rights to Your eBook

Instead of “selling” your ebook resell rights, you can give them away for free so people can offer your ebook on their website for free or give it to their customers as a bonus for their own product.

This technique will easily make your ebook spread on the Internet fast. So it can be a great viral marketing strategy to get free advertising for your backend and affiliate products.

Hot Idea #4: Give Away the Branded Copy of Your eBook

To make your ebook more viral and make it spread even more quickly, you can let people brand it with their own name and website URL.

When a website owner offers his customers with an ebook that includes his name and website address, it has a higher perceived value and increases his credibility. So people will be much more willing to promote your ebook if you make it brandable.

Branding can be as simple as including a sentence like “Brought to you by: Joe Smith”, or even letting people replace the affiliate links with their own affiliate ID.

Hot Idea #5: …

Read part 2 of this article to discover more killer ideas to increase your ebook profits.

Living With Colour

September 29th, 2007 by Administrator

Living with Colour

Colour has an important effect on our lives. It has the power to change our moods, or even invoke an emotion. There are certain colour combinations that visually explain this effect. In this article we will explore the relationship colour and it’s effect on our lives.

Dark or Light?

Colour can mainly be broken down into ‘dark’ and ‘light’ colours. Colours express our emotions and our personality. Some colours exist in harmony with other colours where others stand out and negatively affect others. To choose a colour scheme for your home or furnishings is a difficult one and can encompass many considerations. Choosing a colour scheme is a personal choice but with these hints, it will make your choice a little bit easier!

How does colour work?

As I have already mentioned colour is mainly broken down into ‘dark’ or ‘light’ categories. But within these categories are different variables.

Colour is perceived by the rods and cones contained in the human retina, within the eye, as thousands of waves of electromagnetic energy of varying lengths. These energy waves reflect reds, yellows or blues and the retina categorises these into what we perceive as thousands of different colour possibilities.

With this ability to perceive these colours, we are able to use colour to our advantage. The body’s reaction to colour perception is a physical one, and therefore colour combinations are a powerful tool for us as beings aware of our surroundings.

Colour can evoke emotions based on physical reactions:

Certain colours can make us have a physical and/or psychological reaction based on how our rods and cones interpret them. Essentially, this means that the information comes through the retina and is interpreted then this information is passed along, for processing by the brain. It is during this exchange of information that we experience the reaction to each colour. A good example of this would be hot and cool colours. A further explanation of this is below:

Red

Red evokes feelings of heat. Red is referred to as a ‘hot’ colour. A volcanoes lava, fire, red-hot. Red attracts attention and is a very daring colour to use in decorating. When done properly, red can be a real showstopper. Red in summer can invoke feelings of being hot.

Hues that are a product of red and contain reds are considered to be ‘warm’ colours. Yellows, oranges etc. Placing these colours together can amplify the effect of red.

Blue

Blue evokes feelings of cool. Blue lagoons, a cool ocean, ice. Blue is referred to as a ‘cool’ colour. Blue is the opposite colour to red on the colour wheel and can invoke the opposite emotion. Blue represents a sense of calmness and contentment.

Hues that are a product of blue and contain blues are considered to be ‘cool’ colours. Green, turquoise etc. placing these colours together can amplify the effect of blue.

White

White and other pale pastel colours have an absence of visible colour and are the closest colors to transparency. With increased light, the hues variations decrease. These colours can evoke feelings of well-being, relaxation and even a perception of increased space. Creams, whites and light pastels are part of the light colour group. Placing these colours together can amplify the effect of white.

Black

Black and other dark solid colours have black in their composition and can make a room seem smaller if used in excesses in decorating. Browns, greys and silvers are all part of the dark colour group. Placing these colours together can amplify the effect of black.

Successful colour schemes take into account the effect of colours on our moods and our subconscious in addition to our preconceptions. Next time you have a few minutes, take a walk and look past objects and notice only their colours and see how they make you feel. You might find that you experience a reaction to a certain colour, a reaction that is agreeable, enough to make you want to explore this colour further. Think about what colours make you feel content, and this is a colour possibility for your home.

The Value of a Good Domain Name

September 29th, 2007 by Administrator

Domain names to the internet are the as necessary as wheels on a car. All websites need a domain name; it is how your website is found on the internet by your potential customers. It is your unique identifier and two organizations can not have the same domain name. Your domain name is not really purchased or bought; it is actually leased for a year to 10 years.

Choosing a good domain name requires some thought, because picking a good name may be an important factor in getting return visitors to your site. You will want to keep it short and to the point, no more than 14 letters. This can help reduce the chance of a visitor mistyping your site and ending up on another site.

It is a good idea to choose a domain name that reflects the type of business you plan to do. You will use the name often in your website and if done right it can help you with promote your site with the search engines. What are some tips for choosing a domain name?

Tip 1 - Buy it early. Take a day or two to decide on your name. Think it through, but, don’t procrastinate. Over 30,000 domain names are sold a day. Don’t let someone else beat you to a good domain name.

Tip 2 - Buy your name in .com and .net. Let’s say you buy domain name KCBBQ.com. Your competitor, who also sells Kansas City BBQ sauce, knowingly buys KCBBQ.net and maybe even KCBBQ.biz. Why would he do that? Isn’t he limiting his own business by getting a name similar to yours and won’t he confuse his customers? Don’t think your competitor is innocent. He has just engaged in a domain name trick! He is not planning on conducting his primary business under these names. He bought those names to TAP into your business! Avoid this common newbie mistake and buy all the necessary domain names to protect your interests.

Tip 3 - Buy alternate domain names. Domain names are so cheap that it is affordable to practice this tip. Let’s say you decide that you want to also buy KCBBQ.com and .net why not purchase KC-BBQ.com and .net. These other sites won’t go to waste. You can point these sites to your main domain name KCBBQ.com and increase the traffic to your site.

Tip 4 - What if all good domain names are taken? You should consider buying a previously owned domain name. As we mentioned before domain names can be purchased for multiple years. Sometimes the lifecycle of a website comes to an end and the domain name already has a good page ranking with search engines. You can effectively buy yourself traffic without any work.

Tip 5 - If at all possible don’t choose a domain name that is close to competitors, just because you like the name. For example, if there is a web hosting company called domainexpress.com, it is not recommended that you pick domain-express.com. Take some time think it out, but, don’t wait too long picking your internet identity. It is a necessary exercise in defining your buisness and it can be fun. If you don’t like it, the worst thing that can happen is that you -sell it; There are profits to be made in doing that too!

How To Fake Being A Better Guitarist In Five Simple Steps - Part 1 Of 2

September 28th, 2007 by Administrator

You spend five hours a day playing your guitar. You run your scales, master your legato, your two hand tapping would make EVH blush. So why is it that every time you see a band playing at a bar with a guitarist with only a smidgen of your technical ability he is the centre of attention, garnering the praise of all the punters in the crowd?

Wait a minute. Isn’t that the band that you tried out for the other week? The same band that said “don’t call us, we’ll call you”? The same band that was witness to your smoking 32nd note Lydian masterpiece solo?

Yeah it is, and you got smoked because the guitarist on stage knows how to fake being better than they actually are.

It’s not a hard thing to do. I should know, I’ve done it for years. I’m the first to admit to being an “average” guitarist (actually, I’ve been practicing a lot lately and now would call myself an “above average” player, but that is another column in the works). Despite being average, I would get a lot of people, drunken punters, other musicians, women, all approach me after shows proclaiming how good I am. Like most of my ex-girlfriends, I’ve been faking it all along. And now I am going to teach you how to do the same.

Over the next two weeks, I will share with you my five secret tips to help you Fake Being A Better Guitarist. We’ll start today with tip #1 and #2.

1. Decent equipment is a must and look professional
Sorry boys and girls, it’s time to spend some money. A picture is worth a thousand words, and when it comes to music your image is worth a thousand notes. There is nothing quite as satisfying showing up to a guitarist cattle call with your Marshall half stack on a trolley as you pass all the little Peavey Bandit combos and the like. Straight away you give the impression that you know what you are doing.

But this is not just about your amp. Guitars, effects, leads, the whole lot. This means guitar cases, if you have multiple effects a decent pedal board system set up and ready to just plug in. You need to look somewhat professional without looking like a complete tosser.

It’s even more important on stage. Standing on stage with a nice looking guitar and a cool backline is confidence building to say the least. Plus it makes you look damn sexy to boot.

This doesn’t mean spending a fortune though. I have an amazing sounding Fender Twin, but it stays at home while my Marshall AVT150 half stack hits the road with me. The half stack with my Epiphone Les Paul with classic tri-tone sunburst finish and some decent threads make me look the business.

2. Learn to sing
I can’t stress this enough. An average guitarist who is an average singer will get more gigs than an awesome guitarist who sounds like a dying dolphin. It makes you are more versatile, worthwhile musician for any band if you can step up to the mic and sing as well. It makes you look like a musician, rather than just a guitarist. It’s also a hell of a lot of fun.

Of course, some people just cannot sing, and this is you then don’t try to. Be honest with yourself on this one. If you can’t sing and you try to then you just look like a fool. And looking like a fool will not make you look like a good guitarist.

A good way to improve your singing is start singing along with your favourite artists. It’s a cliché, but start in the shower / bathroom with a small stereo cranking out some of you favourite songs. The natural reverb will make your voice sound better and give you some confidence (it’s an old studio trick to feed a wet mix back to the singer as they are recording). Then progress to the car while you’re driving. It’s private and you can just belt it out while you are in between your normal routine. Then the hard part comes. Listen to some music with harmonies and try to sing the different parts. I found Alice In Chains is especially good for doing this. And finally add harmonies to songs that don’t have them.

When you are confident you can do that, then, and only then, try to sing when you are playing. When you can do that (and that will take a while) you can start to think about doing it with your band.

Wrap Up
So there are the first two tips, looking the part and learning to sing. These two things alone will make you look more like a real musician and come across as a real guitarist. Remember that being a guitarist is more than just playing well, it is a persona, a way of being. By rounding out these other facets of your guitarist personality, the way others will perceive you skills will rise dramatically. Next week I’ll look at the next three tips and by then you’ll be able to fake it just like that guitarist on the stage.

Tractor Trailer Underride Accidents.

September 28th, 2007 by Administrator

What is a Tractor Trailer Underride Accident?

Tractor-Trailer underride accidents occur when a passenger vehicle, usually the front of the passenger vehicle, enters below the base of the trailer of a large truck (e.g., 18-wheeler). This is particularly possible with small family passenger cars (as opposed to a mini-van or SUV). Unfortunately, the height of the front of the car is insufficient to contact the bed of the truck, often 10 to 20 inches below the bed of the truck. This puts the bed of the truck right at the head-chest level of the passengers within the car. Injuries in these accidents tend to be catastrophic, if not fatal.

Why doesn’t the driver just slow down to prevent an underride accident?

A tractor-trailer truck is pretty big… so why doesn’t the car driver see the tractor trailer in time to prevent a underride accident?

Unfortunately, perception and reality meet too late in these circumstances. Often the driver is fooled into thinking that the roadway is clear. Simply, the passenger car driver does not have adequate warning of the impending trailer underride danger.

What is being done to improve driver perception or trailer safety?

Since 1993, trucks must have a special type of reflective tape on the rear and sides of the trailer. Since 1996, trucks must also be equiped with a rear underride guard (strong metal structure) at a height of 22 inches above the ground, so that it will easily come in contact with the engine block of a small car, and thus prevent the car from underriding the bed of the tractor truck trailer. However, it is sad news that many trucks have not been retrofitted. Thus, many tractor trailer trucks manufactured before 1996 are on the road without these two critical safety features. In addition, even ones that have had these features installed may have insufficient protective qualities, such as an inadequate amount of reflective material or a rear underride guard that is too weak to prevent underride of the passenger vehicle.

What are other factors that play into a rear underride accident

Weather. Especially fog, snow, or rain that reduces the distance of visibility. Fog and snow are a huge problem, since they often mask the grey or white color of many trucks.

Driver carelessness. If the driver is momentarily inattentive, they may not see a trailer that has been inadequately pulled to the side of the road, or a trailer that is across the highway as the result of a u-turn or a wide turn in the case of a truck entering a roadway.

The positioning of the truck may cause a trailer underride accident.

Road conditions. Slick road conditions increase the stopping time for a car approaching a tractor trailer underride situation.

Surrounding (ambient) lighting which can reflect off of the truck and cause the truck to blend in with its surrounding, forming a sort of accidental camaflouge, especially on a silver truck. In fact often the reflective red/oraqnge colors match the neon lights from surrounding businesses.

Road lighting. A lack of road lighting can make it very difficult to see the outline of the tractor truck’s trailer. Especially a dark colored trruck trailer such as a dark blue, brown or black trailer. This makes it nearly impossible for the driver of the passenger car to see the truck in time to stop and prevent a trailer underride.

Dirty tractor trailers case accidents. When dirt collects on the reflective tape, it becomes inefficeint at reflecting light and loses its protective warning qualities. Frequent washing of the truck is a must to give the passenger car driver a chance to prevent a side underride accident with the tractor trailer!

What is the most common danger that creates a Tractor Trailer Underride Accident?

Truck driver making a u-turn or a wide-turn. This is not a sudden u-turn. Rather, this is a situation where often the truck has made it already half way around. In fact, the cab of the truck is often facing the oncoming traffic. That fact makes it even more deceiving to the oncoming traffic, since they belive that the truck is already facing them, with the trailer straight behind it, rather than reality - with the tractor truck’s trailer stretched across the oncoming car’s path of transit.
