Christmas Surprises - 3 Tips to Wow the Ones You Love!

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

Christmas is a great time of celebration and festivities. Why not introduce a few new ones to enrich your Christmas festivities and really wow the ones you love!

1. Surprise Wrapping - Write on a piece of paper three words that describe the one you love on one side and on the other side write a short verse declaring your love. Now fold the paper into a small parcel and keep wrapping it and folding it into bigger sheets of paper until you have a large parcel. Ensure that each sheet of paper is differently colored as this makes for more fun.

2. Wish Upon Your Own Star - On Christmas eve as the night falls dark, tie a scarf over your loved ones eyes and escort them outside. Before you take off the scarf tell them that as soon as they see the first star in the night sky it is theirs to keep and wish upon for the coming year.

3. Kissing Ball of Love - Buy a wreath of ivy or holly and place a red ribbon through it. Now hang it from a tree branch either with a long ribbon or some wire. Cut a piece of paper into 12 smaller pieces. On each one write “you are honored with one long gentle kiss under the kissing ball upon presentation of this paper and it will be honored at that very moment”. Now place all pieces of paper into a red envelope and place it on the Christmas tree with your love’s name on it.

There is nothing like making someone feel extra special. With a few new traditions you can really rediscover an enriching experience of Christmas for you and your loved ones this year.

TOPSOIL IN ILLINOIS

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

ATTENTION: FARMERS, CROP GROWERS AND AGRIBUSINESSES OF ILLINOIS.
A LETTER OF APOLOGY Your planting season will be delayed this
spring. At least half of, if not nearly all of Illinois topsoil
is in my house. You can thank four of my children, their
numerous friends and three domestic pets, (namely canines) for
this predicament. It seems the mild temperatures and melting
snow of last week have created a mud wallow for them. They, in
turn have transported tons of this fine Illinois farmland into
my domicile. I have no idea when or how I will get this dirt
back to you. This may involve bulldozers and rental of heavy
equipment (plus heavy equipment operators to run the darn
things), for which I have no means of paying. If you are
sincerely interested in helping me rectify this matter, you may
contribute to the cause. I do, however, have another proposal in
mind that will benefit us all. I believe I could hold the
farmland ransom, thereby obtaining sufficient funds to correct
this situation. 1. You pay me, 2. I get my house cleaned. 3. You
get your dirt back, 4. You plant and 5. I have money to buy
groceries at harvest time. This solution will definitely
stimulate the economy. There may be a few others who try to
convince you that they are in similar dilemmas. DON’T believe
them. Trust me on this. In order to verify and prove this, I may
notify the Guinness Book of World Records.

Most sincerely,

Credit Card Debt - Getting The Help You Need

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

Accumulating too much credit card debt is probably the number one thing people do to get themselves into financial trouble. Credit cards are so easy to get and once you get them, you only have to pay a minimum amount each month. By doing this your outstanding balance will only decrease by a small amount, leaving you no better off then you were the month prior. Over time your credit card balance won’t decrease much and you will be paying huge amounts of interest. If you get to the point where you can barely pay your minimum amounts it is time to seek credit card debt help.

So where can you turn for some help? There are alot of businesses that specialize in credit counseling and preparing budgets for you to follow. Take a look around the internet and do some research on several of them. Try to research some of the different things they offer you to find the right match for your needs. Comparing some of the higher rated companies is a great place for you to start.

Once you settle on a credit card debt help company, you need to know what type of assistance you can expect from them. They should provide you with a roadmap to follow to eliminate your debts. Additionally you should expect them to give you tips for keeping your debt down once you are free from it. It is important to follow everything they say, and keep following their advice even after your financial situation improves.

What Other Methods Are Available To Reduce My Credit Card Debt?

One way to quickly pay down your balance on your credit cards is to consolidate all of the amounts into a lower interest rate loan. This is called a consolidation loan and is a terrific way to get yourself out of a hole. You will pay one monthly payment, which means you are paying interest only once and usually at a lower rate. The length of the loan is usually fixed and the longer you pay it the more the outstanding balance will decrease.

If you have a good relationship with your creditors you can also contact them to inquire about lowering your interest rate. They will usually work with you if you show initiative before your situation gets too out of hand. Your credit card company wants to get paid each month and they realize that by working with you their chances of that increase. Be professional and courteous, but take action before you get too behind on your payments.

One thing to remember is that you should consider seeking help if you are struggling to even make the minimum payments on your credit cards. By only paying the minimum, or even worse by paying late, your balance will barely decrease and will continue to weigh on you each and every month. Talk to someone who can help and follow their advice. Then exercise control on future purchase to keep yourself out of debt.

James McDonald writes for ‘Helpful Debt Solutions’ which is an online debt management solutions resource. You can find information regarding debt consolidations, loans, credit cards, and other financial topics.

Planning Your Wedding- Advice from An Insider

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

Having worked in the wedding industry in Toronto for over 10
years- I have seen the stress of planning a wedding can take on
the bride- and her family. Whenever there is high emotion and
money involved- stress is sure to follow. There are some
strategies that can help relieve the anxiety involved with
planning your wedding and working within your budget.

Find out first who is paying for what and how much. Keep in mind
that anyone who contributes money will feel entitled to express
their opinion- sometimes loudly! So try and make clear what
expectations are. Your future mother-in-law may want to help
out- but she also might want her second cousins daughter in your
wedding party. If possible try and pay for as much of the
wedding yourself and not rely on anyone else.

Take a realistic look at how much money you have to work with-
avoid going into debt. Most important- Have a budget!

Be honest with your wedding professional- tell then how much you
want to spend and have them help you give you the biggest bang
for your buck. They know their field and what is possible and
affordable. I know from experience that most creative people
want to do their best work for you- and want your wedding
flowers to be spectacular or your wedding dress to suit your
body type. It is a business but most bridal shop owners, wedding
photographers or florists I have met all have pride in their
work- if you are getting a sense that they don’t or feel like
just another dollar sign then move on and find some one else.

Ask their advice- they know their stuff! They have seen hundreds
if not thousands of brides and have a pretty good idea of what
works and what doesn’t. I remember one year when a famous
Kennedy got married- and pictures of his bride were all over
newspapers and magazines of her holding a wedding bouquet of
solid lily of the valley. I had DOZENS of brides walk in wanting
this exact look. This is great if you are getting married in the
3 week window in June when lily of the valley is available. Any
other time it is imported from Holland and packs a staggering
price tag. For a 1/10 th of the money I could have given those
brides stunning wedding flowers.

Take a look at your budget and decide which is important to you.
For some brides it might be the dress; others the wedding
flowers or wedding cake. Maybe you have always dreamed of a live
band at your wedding reception. With a limited budget you will
have to make choices. If you want to have 350 people to your
wedding- you may have to have chicken and not surf and turf for
your guests. Something will have to give. Some good advice- you
will be looking at your wedding photos for the next 50+ years. I
would invest money into anything that shows up in those photos.
Get the best photographer you can afford- do not give this job
to your brother or friend who took a Learning Annex course in
Photoshop. Good hair and makeup. I suggest nothing TOO trendy in
a head piece unless you want to suffer the jibes of your
children… and grand children. Do not skimp on your bridal
bouquet. This will be staring back at you for years in an 8×10
glossy . Your wedding attire- get a lovely dress and something
nice for your groom.

Anything else is really is just icing on the cake. Trust me -
you will regret blowing your money on a custom designed wedding
cake. You will not regret beautiful and professional wedding
photographs. It varies from person to person- but certain things
really don’t matter and some do- I will share my opinions on
this. Your dress, wedding photos, your bridal bouquet, location,
grooms attire MATTER. Bridesmaid dresses , bridesmaid’s flowers
and other wedding flowers, wedding cake, head table flowers,
table centerpieces, food do not! If it’s not in the wedding
photo that will be above your mantle- it probably doesn’t
matter.

Find our how much money you have to work with, who is
responsible for what- make a plan and stick to it. Remember all
weddings are beautiful and all wedding days are perfect- Try not
to let the stress of money ruin the panning process for you.
Best Wishes on your Wedding Day!

Black and White Themed Teen Bedroom Decorating Ideas

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

When we found out we were having twins, our teenage daughter volunteered to move into a smaller bedroom so that the twins could have the bigger one. It was definitely time to come up with a new bedroom theme! We also didn’t have much space to work with or a lot of money to spend. So when we moved her into the smaller bedroom, she decided to decorate with a black and white theme.

The walls were already white, so that part was easy. Having the walls white also makes the room look as large as possible.

As a school project, our daughter repainted an old cabinet that was mine when I was growing up. She sanded it, painted it white, and then decoupaged onto the cabinet black and white photos (mostly scenery she liked) from magazines and photos that she had printed from the Internet. She then printed some of her favorite Bible verses in different sizes and in different fonts and decoupaged them on the cabinet. We found some black knobs to match. She was happy with how it turned out, and she got a good grade on the project!

She found some black and white posters for the walls that she liked. Because of the limited space we decided to put up shelves on the walls to replace her bookcase. My husband spray painted the metal runners that the shelves hang on black, and the shelves are white. It looks really nice and frees up a lot of room. We also found an inexpensive black TV stand at Walmart to put her stereo on since she had to give up the dresser it had been on before.

We had an old bulletin board that needed a facelift. We taped around the inside of the board and then spray painted the frame of the board black. We then used a paintbrush to paint the cork white.

My daughter likes candles, so she accented her room with white candles and black candle holders.

So that’s how, on a very small budget, we decorated our teenage daughter’s bedroom in black and white, and we were all very happy with the result!

Critical Condition: How Health Care In America Became Big Business-And Bad Medicine:

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

Title: Critical Condition: How Health Care In America Became Big Business-And Bad Medicine:

Authors: Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele

ISBN: 038550453

The following review was contributed by:NORM GOLDMAN: Editor of Bookpleasures:

REVIEW

Investigative reporters and the only journalists in history to be awarded two Pulitzer Prizes and two National Magazine Awards, Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele have presented a riveting exposé of the critical state of the health system in the United States with their book Critical Condition: How Health Care In America Became Big Business-And Bad Medicine.

Beginning with the assertion that American health care has been transposed from one of compassion to a system motivated by profit- the authors present a distressing analysis as to what went wrong. Where forty-four million citizens do not have health insurance, and tens of millions more are underinsured. And yet there seems to be this enduring myth propagated by many that the USA has a “world- class health system.”

As mentioned by the authors, the USA spends more on health care than any other nation, when you compare it to Germany, France, Japan, Italy, and Canada. However, in these countries citizens do not think twice about seeking care if they are ill. They do not worry who will foot the bills.

In the USA, it has become a lottery. If you are fortunate to be employed by a large company providing generous health benefits, you win. On the other hand, if you are self-employed or work for a small enterprise providing little or no coverage, you lose. You may even go bankrupt and lose your home in order to pay your medical bills.

Relying on interviews, studies from various organizations as the World Health Organization, the US department of Health and Human Services, legal suits, brokerage reports, congressional hearings, newspaper articles, magazine stories, SEC filings, professional journals, and a resevoir of many other sources (all of which are mentioned in the Notes section at the back of the book), the authors deliver legitimate arguments illustrating how an assortment of factors have crawled into the system with calamitous effects.

Broken down into six chapters, Barlett and Steele judiciously examine some of these elements as: rampant overcharging of patients who do not have insurance, dissuading people from purchasing drugs from Canada with false information concerning the Canadian pharmaceutical industry, caving into the demands of special interest groups, the non-existence of independent monitoring of diagnostic test results and hospital mistakes, permitting politicians and business people to assume key roles to the detriment of the welfare of the citizens, a culture of cronyism giving rise to blatant fraud in many instances, doctors having to deal with conditions apt to be found in undeveloped countries, peopled shuffled around by individuals who do not have the foggiest notion as to how to deal with them.

In addition, we are informed of how private enterprises connected with Wall Street financiers and Madison Avenue advertising firms have been permitted to join in as if health care was analogous to the selling of cars or MacDonald’s franchises. As the authors rightfully ask: “Is this what health care in America has become?”

Although the authors portray a certain amount of cynicism, there is a glimmer of hope, as evidenced by the concluding chapter, wherein suggestions are offered as to how to revamp the ailing system.

However, the question lingers on. Will Americans reconsider their values, priorities, budgets and options and elect people, who will first and foremost take care of its citizens when it comes to health care? Something most civilized nations do.

Blogging Can Help You Stick to That New Year’s Resolution

July 31st, 2007 by Administrator

Research shows that millions of Americans made at least one New
Year’s Resolution this year - but that the real trouble is in
sticking to it. According to University of Scranton psychology
professor John Norcross, PhD., the three leading resolutions are
to lose weight, quit smoking, or exercise regularly. The problem
is, less than thirty percent of the people that make a
resolution are still working toward their goal thirty days later.

Resolution-makers try everything - going cold turkey with
cigarettes, buying expensive gym memberships, even rewarding
themselves with bribes for making it through a week without ice
cream. Unfortunately, these methods fail more often than they
succeed. However, thousands of people are finding that using an
online diary, or blog, can help them to stick with their
resolutions and succeed in reaching their goals.

A blog can help with your New Year’s resolution in many ways. To
start, use your blog to write down exactly what your resolution
is, and what the goals are that you hope to achieve. Plan out a
timetable for reaching your goals, and put it in writing in your
online diary. For instance, if your resolution is to quit
smoking, start a journal today, with the first entry stating
your goal and how long you expect to have to work to reach it.
This clearly defines what your expectations are. More
importantly, it records a concrete timeframe for what you are
trying to accomplish - making it less likely that you will keep
pushing your goal date back week after week.

As you work toward your goal, use your blog to keep track of
your progress. Each day, make an entry that tells what your
successes or failures for that day were. If your resolution is
to lose weight, include your weight in your daily diary entry,
so you can clearly see what sort of progress you are making.
This is particularly useful if you are working towards a
long-term goal over several months, since you can check back
through your blog to monitor your progress. Changes that seem
very small from one day to the next will take on a larger
significance when you see them happening over many days and
weeks in your blog.

If you fall off the resolution wagon one day, be sure to record
that as well. A blog can be great for analyzing what went wrong
on a particular day, by helping you see what else may have
caused the problem. For instance, if your goal is to stop
smoking, you may notice in your diary that you are still
sneaking cigarettes every Tuesday, but only after the weekly
staff meeting with your boss. Identifying the cause of your
stress may help you to avoid or eliminate the problem, and get
back on track with your resolution.

Finally, use your blog as a support mechanism. Most online diary
communities allow other members to leave notes to the blog
writer - which is a great way to receive support and
encouragement from other people who are working toward a similar
goal. A few friendly words from somebody else who is trying to
exercise three times a week can go a long way towards getting
you in the gym tomorrow. As you share your successes or failures
with others, you may be surprised by the amount of advice and
positive reinforcement you receive from the people who read your
blog.

By providing a tool for recording your goals, tracking your
progress, and gathering personal support, a blog can be
invaluable in helping you stick to your New Year’s resolution.
If you don’t already have a blog, check out one of dozens of
online diary sites - most of them are free, easy to use, and
will provide you with everything you need to keep your own
resolution diary.

How to be Prepared for Your Fashion Model Shoot

July 30th, 2007 by Administrator

The fashion model session - What to pack in your model case

OK, you’re off to a model photo shoot. But, did you remember to pack your bag? Did you put everything you need in it? I hope this article will be helpful to you and start you on the right foot in making sure your model bag is complete.

What do you bring?

What you bring to your model photo session will depend upon whether this is your first shoot for a portfolio or a paying job. Either way, this section will help you to be prepared for whatever reason you’re doing the model session.

First things first - Know what the client wants

If you are shooting for an agent or client, he will tell you what to bring but you still need to carry basics in case of changes in hair, makeup, etc. All the tips listed here are meant to be a guide and a checklist of sorts so you can always add to the list when you feel it’s necessary.

Ready? Let’s get started to create your model “kit”

Below I’m going to list suggestions for your photo shoot mainly so you don’t forget anything the day of the shoot. In fact, I’d like to see your model case prepared before the day of the session so there’s no rush. You may want to copy and print the section below so that you’ll have a guide handy each time you go for a photo shoot.

You’re now standing lifeless in front of your closet - Wardrobe Essentials

Here are the essentials for your wardrobe. As stated above, some of the clothing listed here will be provided if this is a model shoot for a client.

- Casual - blue jeans, sports & knit tops, button up tops, shorts, cutoff blue jeans, etc.
- Business Suit - for a different look
- Sports (exercise, uniforms, shorts, etc.) - If you plan to do some sports modeling
- Lingerie - If you plan to enter the lingerie market
- Swim wear - needs to be a bikini that really flatters you
- Any props like hats, neckties, men’s shirts, jackets, etc.
- G-string & bra in flesh tone color - This is to eliminate lines that show under clothing
- Hose/nylons in an assortment of colors
- Socks in different colors including black and white
- Bring several different bras including at least one push-up and one in flesh tone color
- A robe to wear between changes during the photo session
- Bring a scarf to wear when changing to help keep makeup off client’s and your clothing
- You may also want to pack an iron or steamer for those wrinkles that are bound to show up from the trip.

Accessories - You’ve got to have something to compliment the clothes, right?

Along with each outfit, try to bring accessories which will accent or match the outfit. Keep accessories simple.

- Assortment of necklaces
- Earrings
- Bracelets
- Choker (these are popular at the time of this writing)
- Wristwatch - You normally wouldn’t wear a watch unless you are doing a photo where you will be looking at the time.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

As with accessories, shoes should match or accent the outfit. But, you can also think outside the box on the subject of footwear. For example; High heels have a totally different look with jeans or swim wear than with an evening dress.

- Dress shoes - Bring several different pairs
- High heels - Also an assortment
- Jogging shoes - white
- Boots or high heel boots
- Sandals

Don’t forget about the hair

Below are some items you’ll need for your hair (or hair removal)

- An assortment of combs and hairbrushes
- A curling iron
- Hair rollers
- Straightener
- A couple of headbands
- Shaving cream and a couple of sharp razors
- Anything else you use for hair care

When coming to the model shoot, I would suggest leaving the hair fairly natural with very little (if any) hairspray so that you, or the MUA, can work with it after you arrive.

Makeup and facial

Even if your shoot involves a make-up artist, you still may want to pack the following …

- Your complete makeup kit along with a mirror
- A moisturizer
- Cottonballs and swabs
- Lip balm
- Vaseline
- A good skin cleanser
- Several different shades of lip color (be sure to bring some solid colors)

Nails, finger that is.

A quick tip about nails. Remember that in photos, your eye will move to vivid colors first, especially red. So, take this into account as to whether you want people viewing your hands or your face.

- Here is a checklist for nail products to take to your photo shoot.
- Your complete manicure kit
- Nail polish with neutral color
- Remover kit for nail polish

A nice manicure will really enhance your model photos, especially images where your hand is near your face in close-ups so pay particular attention to your nails.

This should pretty much cover you for most photo shoots but as stated above, listen to the photographer or client and be sure to bring wardrobe he or she wants.

Now, you’re ready so off your model photo session!!!

Hypnosis Is Not Magic But Common Sense

July 30th, 2007 by Administrator

The concept of hypnosis was long surrounded with mystics. This stems from older days when it was looked upon as a weird,
freaky and even scary practice of sensational mind control entertainment. As time has developed the perception of what the
hypnotic method really is, has been widely spread and more and more people have adopted and accepted this practise. There is
no mysticism associated with hypnotic practice any longer, but granted as a common sense way to self improvement for ordinary
people. Another good thing is that the mechanisms that are underlying all serious hypnotizing activities has been well
researched and studied by scientists and has been scientifically proven to be effective as a mean of controlling our minds.

Even the old greek philosophers knew the intimate relationship between body and mind. This is the basic knowledge that any
mind controlling technique is buildt upon. Today it is commonly accepted that thoughts are impacting our feelings. If you are thinking negative thoughts, you will feel miserable. If you are thinking positive thoughts let’s say for only 10
minutes, you’ll feel more positive and happy. Just try right now. The bottom line is that the way to change our lives goes
through changing our minds. Thanks to hypnotic and mind controlling methods, we don’t need to be convinced about this to make it happen.

These mind controlling hypnotic techniques can be used for anyone who wants to utilize the power of his or her mind for
positive changes in their lives. Areas of life where mind manipulating techniques have been used successfully on many people are

  • self confidence improvement
  • phobia and panic attack treatment
  • weight loss
  • quit smoking
  • speaking skill improvement

and many other life changing purposes. In fact hypnotic techniques can be successfully used on most areas where we want to achieve something. Nowadays we see lots of different applications of this basic mind controlling method. You don’t even have to go to a hypnotherapist in person, you can have the treatment done on the telephone, via downloadable audio files
online or hypnotic CDs and tapes.

Online Casino Bonuses

July 30th, 2007 by Administrator

Types Of Online Casino Bonuses

If you’ve ever considered playing at an online casino, you should be aware that the vast majority of them offer cash bonuses as an incentive to play. While there are some generous offers out there today, being made, it’s very important that you understand how casino bonuses work and understand the terms and conditions of the offer.

The No Deposit Bonus

Some online casinos offer players free cash with no deposit required. These can be a great way to get started playing and to get a feel for the games at an online casino, but be aware of the complete terms of a no deposit bonus. In some cases the casino will require you to register a credit card to claim the free cash. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are trying to steal funds from your card. There are reputable casinos who do this as a security measure to avoid bonus abuse and players claiming multiple accounts. It also gives the casinos a better chance of weeding out the bonus hunters from more serious players. At the same time, be aware of rogue casinos and do your homework before you sign up and play at any casino. Some casinos require you to make a small deposit in order to cash out your winnings from a no deposit offer. Some online casinos also require players to make a small deposit before cashing out winnings from a no deposit offer, again due to bonus abuse of other players. Wagering requirements and game restrictions often apply to this type of bonus.

The Cashable Matching Deposit Bonus

Many internet casinos offer a percentage match bonus when players make a deposit. These are pretty self-explanatory - for a 200% bonus, for example, you would deposit $100 and the casino will add another $200 to your account. These bonuses typically range anywhere from 10-250% or more. This type of bonus almost always requires the player to wager through the deposit and bonus a certain number of times and usually only certain games count towards the wagering requirements.

The Sticky Bonus

A sticky bonus is just that - it can never be cashed out. This may sound like a bad deal at first, but actually can be a great deal for a player. You can use the “money” from the bonus account to wager as much as you like. Even though the bonus itself stays put in your casino account, you will have more money available in your account to wager longer with that much more of a chance to hit a big jackpot or build up some good winnings at a table game like blackjack. We have seen some online casinos offer sticky bonuses that have been quite generous, in some cases over $300 and more.

Wagering Requirements

Wagering requirements can be rather high at many online casinos nowadays. Some casinos require you wager as much 20 times your deposit and bonus amount or more before cashing out. There was a time that you only had to wager through your deposit and bonus once before cashing out at an online casino! Due to the high costs of this type of promotion and bonus abuse, wagering requirements have been raised considerably at virtually all online casinos.

Note that in some cases sticky bonuses carry no wagering requirements - this can be a great deal if you come across this type of promotion.

Game Restrictions

In many cases only certain games count towards the wagering requirements of the bonus offer. It’s common to see Slots play count towards the wagering requirements. Games like Blackjack and Roulette are often excluded from the wagering requirements.

Always, ALWAYS read bonus terms and conditions.

You’ve downloaded the software, you’ve signed up and created your account and logged in. you’ve made your deposit and you’re ready to play. But do you really know what you’re getting into? As you can see there are many different kinds of bonuses and you need to know the wagering requirements, games restrictions and other terms and conditions when you play. Some online casinos will simply tell you that you need to but in some cases your winnings can be forfeited if you do not follow the promotional terms to the letter. So unless you’re only there for a good time and don’t care about your winnings, knowing the terms and conditions of a bonus offer is essential. If you are comfortable with a particular casino and it’s promotional bonus offer, you might as well claim the free cash. If you’re going to play anyway, you might as well accept the free money offer.

If you aren’t comfortable with requirements of a bonus offer, pick another casino to play, or consider simply depositing without claiming a bonus. Many online casinos offer better odds and payouts than Native American casinos or even Las Vegas casinos, so often you still are getting a good deal for your money. Also, nothing can compare with the comfort and convenience of gambling at home in your pajamas.
